SMD signs MoU with State Museums of Berlin

WAM SHARJAH, 30th April, 2013 (WAM) — The Sharjah Museums Department (SMD) has signed a ground breaking Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the State Museums of Berlin, the largest museum organisation in Germany, and the Goethe Institute, the worldwide cultural institution of the Federal Republic of Germany.

The comprehensive MoU was signed by Manal Ataya, Director-General of SMD, Dr. Michael Eisenhower, Director – General of Berlin State Museums and Secretary-General Johannes Ebert of the Goethe Insitute on Friday the 26th of April at (Place). The trilateral MoU aims to recognise the advantages of cooperation between the three organisations in specific areas of museum practice in a spirit of mutual benefit, esteem and reciprocity.

Speaking about the agreement, Manal Ataya, Director General of the Sharjah Museums Department, said, “SMD and the Berlin State Museums are keen to build on our existing co-operation and to create a long-term partnership by working together on research, conservation, exhibitions and other key areas of museum activity for the benefit of our audiences. We are delighted, with the ongoing support of the Goethe Institute, to enter into this agreement and look forward to developing further in museum best practices.” The Memorandum of Understanding will begin the process to build on the ties of cooperation and friendship first established during the successful execution of the inaugural exhibition in 2008 of the �Radiance of Islam’ exhibition at the Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization, provided by the Berlin Museum of Islamic Art as a celebratory contribution to the Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization’s reopening after extensive renovations. Following this initial collaboration, further contacts between SMD and its German partners were consolidated by professional development initiatives in the field of museum work facilitated by the German Robert Bosch Foundation and the Goethe-Institute.

Under the terms of the MoU SMD and the State Museums of Berlin will be cooperation to promote collaboration and professional development in areas of mutual interest in the field of museum sciences as well as to foster opportunities for institutional exchange in view of enhancing cross-cultural understanding and dialogue through museum collections, art and culture. The MoU also defines the main areas of museum practice in which collaboration is desired, in particular exhibition development, conservation, collection management, and museum education in addition to outlining the main phases in which any such collaborations will be progressed.

To aid in the successful implementation of the MoU’s goals, the Goethe-Institute, through its branch in the Gulf-Region, have committed to assisting and supporting the development of deeper cooperation between the parties through a variety of ways, including the implementation of supporting programmes, such as conferences, workshops and symposia.

The first concrete outcome of the new Memorandum of Understanding will be a joint exhibition project to be realised in 2014, exhibition to be realised in 2014 when Sharjah celebrates its award for Islamic cultural capital for 2014.

اجتماع عربي أميركي : السلام بين الفلسطينيين والإسرائيليين يعزز أمن واستقرار المنطقة

واشنطن في 30 إبريل/ وام / أكد وفد مبادرة السلام العربية والجانب الأميركي في ختام اجتماعهما الذي عقد الليلة الماضية في واشنطن..أن تحقيق السلام بين الفلسطينيين والإسرائيليين يعزز أمن ورفاه واستقرار منطقة الشرق الأوسط وهو مصلحة مشتركة للمنطقة والعالم أجمع.

وشدد وفد المبادرة في البيان المشترك الذي صدر في ختام الإجتماع..على أن السلام بين الفلسطينيين والإسرائيليين هو خيار استراتيجي..مؤكدا أن مبادرة السلام العربية أساس لسلام عادل ودائم وشامل من شأنه أن ينهي الصراع في الشرق الأوسط ويحافظ على أمن واستقرار المنطقة.

وأكد وفد الجامعة العربية في ” أن أي اتفاق يجب أن يقوم على أساس حدود الرابع من يونيو 1967 مع إمكانية مقايضة طفيفة للأراضي من حيث المساحة والقيمة المتفق عليها بصورة متبادلة”.

بدوره جدد الوفد الأميركي التزامه بالعمل على إنهاء الصراع على أساس حل الدولتين ” فلسطين واسرائيل ” تعيشان جنبا الى جنب في سلام وأمن.. مشيرا إلى دور جامعة الدول العربية في دفع جهود السلام في المنطقة.

ونقلت وكالة الأنباء القطرية ” قنا ” عن معالي الشيخ حمد بن جاسم بن جبر آل ثاني رئيس مجلس الوزراء وزير الخارجية القطري رئيس اللجنة الوزارية لمبادرة السلام العربية..قوله أن الاجتماع الذي عقد الليلة الماضية في واشنطن مع المسؤولين الأميركيين كان مثمرا وبناء..مشيرا إلى أن الدول العربية تؤمن أن السلام هو خيار استراتيجي والعودة الى مبادرة السلام بين الفلسطينين والإسرائيليين هو حل للطرفين واستقرار لمنطقة الشرق الأوسط .

وأضاف خلال مؤتمر صحفي مشترك عقده مع جون كيري وزير الخارجية الأميركي..أن وفد الجامعة العربية أكد خلال الاجتماع أن الحل يجب أن يكون على أساس الدولتين وحدود / 67 /.

وكانت اللجنة الوزارية لمبادرة السلام العربية عقدت اجتماعا في واشنطن برئاسة الشيخ حمد بن جاسم بن جبر آل ثاني رئيس اللجنة..بمشاركة جو بايدن نائب الرئيس الأميركي والدكتور نبيل العربي أمين عام جامعة الدول العربية وجون كيري وزير الخارجية الأميركي.

كما حضر الاجتماع عدد من وزراء خارجية وممثلي الدول الأعضاء باللجنة الوزارية للمبادرة العربية.

وتم خلال الاجتماع بحث خطوات تفعيل المبادرة العربية وجهود دفع عملية السلام في الشرق الأوسط لاسيما التسوية العادلة والشاملة للقضية الفلسطينية كخيار استراتيجي للدول العربية يتحقق في ظل الشرعية الدولية ويستوجب التزاما مقابلا تؤكده إسرائيل ..وعقب ذلك عقد اجتماع آخر لتدراس آخر تطورات الأوضاع والمستجدات في سوريا.
