DAE receives inaugural ESG Risk Rating of ‘Low Risk’ from Sustainalytics

DUBAI, Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE) Ltd, the global aviation services company, today announced that it has received an ESG Risk Rating score of 14.1 which was assessed by Sustainalytics to be ‘Low Risk’ category.

This follows the publication in June 2021 of DAE’s inaugural Environmental, Social, and Governance Report, which can be accessed here or on DAE’s website.

Commenting on the publication of the ESG Risk Rating, Firoz Tarapore, Chief Executive Officer of DAE, stated, “Our ESG Risk Rating is the lowest of any company in our industry, and it demonstrates the effort that our team has put in over the past 18 months to strengthen our ESG risk management and framework. DAE is pleased to be recognized by Sustainalytics for our efforts, and we look forward to continuing to engage with our stakeholders on ESG issues.”

Sustainalytics’ ESG Risk Ratings measure a company’s exposure to industry-specific material ESG risks and how well a company is managing those risks. This multi-dimensional way of measuring ESG risk combines the concepts of management and exposure to arrive at an assessment of ESG risk, i.e. a total unmanaged ESG risk score or the ESG Risk Rating, that is comparable across all industries. Sustainalytics’ ESG Risk Ratings provide a quantitative measure of unmanaged ESG risk and distinguish between five levels of risk: Negligible, Low, Medium, High and Severe.

Etisalat reasserts dominance as ‘World’s Fastest Mobile Network’ for second consecutive year

ABU DHABI, At an awards ceremony held at Etisalat’s Al Kifaf building in Dubai, Masood M. Sharif Mahmood, CEO, Etisalat UAE Operations, received the award in the presence of Etisalat Group’s CEO Hatem Dowidar, key Etisalat management executives, and representatives from the technology department.

The ranking is based on analysis by Ookla of millions of tests actively initiated by customers across every network to check internet speeds using various applications on web and mobile platforms. The Speedtest Awards for top network providers are determined using a ‘Speed Score ’ that incorporates a measure of each provider’s network speeds (download and upload) to rank network speed performance.

With an average download speed of 193.88 mbps and an overall ranking in the ‘Speed Score’ at 153.05, Etisalat is the only operator globally to rank higher than 150 as per Ookla Speedtest data. Etisalat is the winner of the Speedtest Awards for both fastest mobile network globally and fastest fixed broadband network in GCC during Q1-Q2 in 2021.

Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment sends 60 tonnes of aid to Afghanistan

DUBAI, The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment sent four planes loaded with 60 tonnes of food aid to Kabul to provide for the basic needs of the Afghan people.

Ibrahim Bumalha, Dubai Ruler’s Advisor for Humanitarian and Cultural Affairs and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Establishment, said sending planes with humanitarian aid is part of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and crowns the ongoing coordination between the establishment and Dubai’s aviation sector.

He added that the planes transported 60 tonnes of basic food supplies, noting the Afghan people are suffering from food scarcity.

Several Afghan officials expressed their appreciation to the UAE for its humanitarian efforts and aid to the Afghan people.

The establishment has launched many humanitarian and charity projects in Afghanistan, including the construction of a village for disabled people with 200 houses, four mosques, two schools, a shopping centre, a clinic and a professional training centre, in addition to the Zayed Orphanage in Kandahar, which was approved as a secondary school that runs seven classes, organises carpentry workshops for orphans, and comprises housing for students, facilities and a mosque. The establishment also built several artesian wells in the area.

Dubai hosts Cyber Security & Innovation Series from 13th-16th September

DUBAI, Under the patronage of the UAE Cybersecurity Council, the Cyber Security & Innovation Series (CSIS) is hosting over 200 attendees in a hybrid online and in person event taking place from 13th to 16th September online. The series will conclude its sessions with an award giving and networking majlis event at Grand Hyatt on 16th September.

CSIS is organised by Market Solutions Events Management, a leading events organiser lead by the Emirati architect and entrepreneur Madiha Salem.
