Mikdad, Lavrov affirm necessity of combating terrorism, ending illegitimate foreign presence on Syrian territory

New York, Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Faysal Mikdad, discussed Thursday with Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, various aspects related to enhancing the distinguished bilateral relations between the two friendly countries at all political and economic levels which witnessed a new momentum through the recent summit held between Presidents Bashar al-Assad and Vladimir Putin in Moscow.

The two ministers stressed the need to move forward in developing those relations and expanding them in various domains. The talks tackled the situation in Syria with both ministers underlining the need to continue fighting terrorism until it is completely eliminated, ending the illegitimate foreign presence on Syrian territory and removing unilateral coercive measures imposed on Syria.

In this context, Minister Lavrov affirmed his country’s principled stance, based on full respect for Syria’s sovereignty and independence and territorial integrity, and non-intervention in its domestic affairs.

In turn, Minister Mikdad expressed Syria’s appreciation for the Russian support in various political, economic and humanitarian fields.

The two sides also discussed developments in the region and welcomed convening the first Ministerial meeting of “the Group of Friends in Defense of the Charter of the United Nations “held today in New York.

Hajj Hassan, Khouri discuss means of enhancing Syrian – Lebanese relations in agricultural domain

Beirut, Lebanese Minister of Agriculture, Abbas Hajj Hassan discussed with secretary general of the Lebanese-Syrian Higher Council, Nasri Khoury, means of enhancing Syrian-Lebanese relations in the agricultural domain and related files.

During the meeting held on Thursday, Hajj Hassan concentrated on activating coordination through Lebanese-Syrian Higher Council and exerting efforts to reduce the Syrian transit fees to the Lebanese products.

He hailed Syria’s stance in support of Lebanon in light of the economic crisis.

An official in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs discusses with the Kuwaiti Chargé d’Affairs regional and international issues of common interest

Baghdad Head of the Arab Department, Osama Mahdi Ghanem, discussed with the Kuwaiti Chargé d’Affairs Salah Al-Bannai regional and international issues of common interest.

A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said today, Thursday, that the head of the Arab Department received the Kuwaiti Chargé d’Affairs at the ministry’s headquarters.

The head of the Arab Department commended Kuwait’s supportive stances for Iraq, noting: that Kuwait is with Iraq, and this is always touched, adding: We are counting on Kuwait; due to its proximity to Iraq, and the intimate relations between the two countries, calling for more cooperation and coordination in all fields.

For his part, the Kuwaiti Chargé d’Affairs affirmed his country’s supportive stance for Iraq, especially in the field of combating terrorism and restoring security and stability in the country, expressing Kuwait’s readiness for economic cooperation and increasing the volume of investment between the two countries.

Head of the National Investment Commission discussed with the Jordanian Minister of Public Works and Housing ways to enhance economic and investment cooperation between the two countries

Baghdad The Head of the National Investment Commission, Suha Dawoud Al-Najjar, discussed with the Jordanian Minister of Public Works and Housing Yahya Al-Kasabi ways to enhance economic and investment cooperation between the two countries and for Jordanian companies to enter the current investment process in Iraq.

Al-Najjar stressed, during her reception, today, Thursday, the Jordanian Minister and the delegation accompanying him, according to a statement to the media of the Investment Commission, the Commission’s keenness to increase cooperation with Jordan in the field of investment by granting Jordanian investment companies all the facilities and guarantees guaranteed to them by Investment Law No. 13 of 2006 and its amendments.

Al-Najjar indicated, “there are many economic sectors in Iraq that are rich in investment opportunities that can be exploited by the Jordanian side in an optimal manner and in a manner that achieves the interests of both parties, especially that the Jordanian side is in contact with and is sufficiently aware of the Iraqi economic reality and has great investment experiences in various investment sectors in Iraq and from the most important one is the renewable energy sector.

For his part, the Jordanian Minister of Public Works and Housing affirmed that Iraq is a fertile land for investment and that Jordanian companies have a serious desire to enter the promising Iraqi market, especially in the field of housing, which is characterized by the Kingdom of Jordan in terms of planning and implementation.

The head of the National Investment Commission and the advanced staff in it, who attended the meeting, listened to the inquiries and suggestions of the economic delegation accompanying the guest minister, as those inquiries were clarified and the proposals discussed according to the needs of each governorate of these projects.”

Saudi Arabia, US Share 8 Decades of Cooperation and Mutual friendship – Blinken

Washington, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken expressed his congratulations to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the occasion of its 91st National Day.

In a press briefing, he stressed that the Kingdom and the United States have shared 8 decades of partnership, cooperation and mutual friendship.

“The strength of our ties has enhanced our nations’ prosperity and the security of the region and we will be expanding our relations to include addressing the challenges of climate crisis and supporting a strong international response to COVID-19 pandemic as well as promoting a broad global economic recovery,”

Blinken added, “We are working together to address shared security challenges and forge a future of peace and economic prosperity. My best wishes to the people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for a happy National Day and a successful year ahead.”
