Doctors Without Borders Regional Office in the UAE marks fiftieth anniversary

DUBAI, The team of Doctors Without Borders – Regional Office in the United Arab Emirates – met today with the community of humanitarian workers and supporters of the organization on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the founding of the organization.

The meeting took place at the headquarter of the International Humanitarian City (IHC) in the presence of a number of members of non-profit organizations and partners. The ceremony included a welcome speeches from Mario Stephan, General Director of MSF in the regional office in the United Arab Emirates, and Giuseppe Saba, Executive Director of the International Humanitarian City in Dubai.

Some testimonies from the organization’s teams around the world were also presented on this occasion, in addition to a documentary film that reflects the activities of the organization during the past years.

Mario Stephan said: “50 Years of existence for our organization is a moment to pause and reflect, ensuring we remain relevant in serving our patients, today and for the years to come.”

Giuseppe Saba congratulated MSF team on their 50th anniversary, which coincides with UAE’s 50th anniversary and national day celebrations this year. He added: ”MSF have been an important part of the humanitarian community in Dubai for many years, praising their efforts in providing medical assistance and emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, pandemics, natural disasters and exclusion from healthcare, throughout the years since their inception 50 years ago.

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) / Doctors Without Borders was founded in 1971 in Paris by a group of journalists and doctors. Today, MSF is a worldwide movement of nearly 65,000 people. Three hundred volunteers made up the organization when it was founded: doctors, nurses and other staff, including the 13 founding doctors and journalists. MSF was created in the belief that all people should have access to healthcare regardless of gender, race, religion, creed or political affiliation.

Air Arabia to showcase latest A321neo-LR at the Dubai Airshow 2021

SHARJAH, Air Arabia, the Middle East and North Africa’s first and largest low-cost carrier (LCC) operator, will showcase its latest A321neo-LR alongside the latest innovation, technologies and cabin configuration at Dubai Airshow 2021 from November 14 to 18.

The carrier also unveiled a special livery on its Airbus A320 and A321 neo-LR aircraft to commemorate the nation’s golden jubilee.

Air Arabia’s latest A321 neo-LR can accommodate 215 passengers. It is equipped with Air Arabia’s state of the art cabin interior; wireless entertainment system “SkyTime” and the seats provide extra comfort while maintaining Air Arabia’s generous seat pitch.

Dubai Airshow visitors will get to experience Air Arabia’s value driven low-cost product onboard the carrier’s Airbus A321 neo-LR aircraft.

Corporate executives congratulate UAE on winning bid to host COP28

ABU DHABI, A number of corporate executives have congratulated the UAE on winning the bid to host COP28 in Abu Dhabi in 2023, saying it is an important milestone in the country’s global climate change leadership journey.

Awaidha Murshed Al Marar, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy, said, “We congratulate our leadership and our people on winning the bid to host the Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in 2023. Our country has a strong reputation as a modern, inclusive, and forward-looking nation that despite its geological and desert climate, has remained fully committed to the global efforts to combat climate change and has taken bold actions to accelerate the energy transition.

Hosting the COP28 in Abu Dhabi reinforces the internationally shared responsibility to act firmly to move the climate action agenda forward. It is also in line with Dubai’s commitment to sustainability and its proactive role in supporting the future of energy and the efforts to combat climate change. Dr. Abdulla Al Mandous Director of NCM and President of the Regional Association II (Asia) of the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO), said that the UAE’s winning bid in hosting COP28 in Abu Dhabi in 2023 was the result of the tireless efforts made by the UAE’s wise leadership to enhance and consolidate the country’s leading position as a major contributor to global endeavors in confronting climate change. “This achievement came as a result of the practical steps implemented by the UAE in the field of climate action, the latest of which was the announcement of the UAE Net Zero by 2050 Strategic Initiative, in addition to a list of what the country has achieved to support regional and international efforts to reduce the repercussions of this phenomenon, which has negative consequences that affect different countries around the world.” ” This international consensus on choosing the UAE to host the climate conference reaffirms the country’s ability to bring about positive change to ensure a future based on sustainable development, and also reflects the world’s confidence in its position as an effective and influential center in finding practical solutions to pivotal international issues,” he noted.

DEWA offers ‘Private Work in Right of Way’ service through website and smart app

DUBAI, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) provides its customers with the “Private Work in Right of Way” service to enable them to obtain approval for various construction activities outside their private residential/commercial workplaces via DEWA’s website and smart app.

The service includes landscaping works, plot replanning, Sikka cancellation requests, temporary access to farms, outdoor seating, external paving works, temporary scaffolding and many more for customers owning villas, farms, plots, and shops.

The services are available via its website and smart app, to provide customers with the convenience of conducting their transactions easily and securely anytime, anywhere, in addition to protecting the environment and saving natural resources.

DEWA strives to enrich customer experience through smart services that save their time and efforts and leverage the latest disruptive technologies in line with the Smart Dubai initiative to make Dubai the smartest and happiest city in the world.

DEWA has completed its digital integration with more than 30 entities, while its smart transactions completed from 2017 until the end of September 2021 stood at around 41 million transactions. Moreover, the smart adoption of DEWA’s services reached 98.92 percent in Q3 2021.

Abu Dhabi Aviation’s participation in Dubai Airshow 2021

ABU DHABI, Abu Dhabi Aviation, the largest operator of helicopters in the Middle East and North Africa, is participating in Dubai Airshow 2021 that is going to be held from 14 to 18 November.

During the exhibition, Abu Dhabi Aviation will display its wide range of aviation services that it provides to the leading local and international entities in the aviation sector. It aims to drive growth in commercial and luxury helicopters, freight and maintenance sectors.
