EDGE awarded AED11 billion exclusive contract to service UAE Air Force and Air Defence Aircraft

DUBAI, EDGE Group entity, GAL, a leading regional provider of integrated aircraft sustainment solutions for military and civilian customers, has been awarded an exclusive Performance-Based Logistics (PBL) contract to supply the UAE Air Force and Air Defence (AFAD) with maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), and specialised support services.

For the first time in the company’s history, the three-year AED11 billion PBL contract will see GAL support the AFAD with their operational readiness while providing comprehensive safety and flexibility. The agreement solidifies GAL’s position as one of the Middle East’s leading providers of aviation MRO services and will also streamline AFAD’s processes, align synergies and optimise manpower.

The PBL arrangement allows military customers to seek aviation MRO services organised under a cost per flight hour model, and also facilitates ongoing improvements.

Emaar Development delivers highest ever property sales of AED20.943 bn in first nine months of 2021

DUBAI, Emaar Development PJSC (DFM: EMAARDEV), the leading build-to-sell property development business, majority-owned by Emaar Properties, achieved strong performance during the first nine months (January to September) of 2021, with a strong contribution by exceptional inventory sales, and reinforced by recent successful launches creating value for the future. The developer reported its highest ever property sales of AED20.943 billion (US$5.702 billion) in the first nine months of 2021, an increase of 382 percent compared to the first nine months of 2020.

During the first nine months of 2021, Emaar Development successfully launched Golf Place Terraces, Palm Hills with Elie Saab and Majestic Vistas inspired by Automobili Lamborghini in Dubai Hills Estate, Palace Beach Residence and Beach Mansion in Emaar Beachfront, Caya and Bliss in Arabian Ranches III, and Nara in The Valley.

In the first nine months of 2021 (January to September), Emaar Development reported a net profit of AED2.384 billion (US$ 649 million) and revenue of AED11.604 billion (US$ 3.159 billion), an increase of 75 percent and 63 percent compared to the first nine months of 2020, respectively.

Emaar now has a sales backlog of AED 28.471 billion (US$ 7.751 billion), which will be recognised in the future as revenue for the business.

As of September 2021, Emaar has delivered more than 51,000 residential units, with over 25,000 residences currently under development in the UAE.

Industry, business leaders to gather at GMIS2021 to shape future of manufacturing, digitalisation, supply chain operations

DUBAI, The fourth edition of the Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit (GMIS2021) will be held at EXPO’s Dubai Exhibition Centre from November 22-23, followed by side-events and conferences from November 24-27.

The GMIS2021 will convene chief executive officers and senior leaders from some of the largest global and local corporations to explore the latest advances in manufacturing technologies as organisations around the world continue to rapidly embrace digitalisation, shape new business models, and revitalise operations.

The six-day GMIS Week will feature over 125 global speakers, including the two-day GMIS2021 Summit on November 22-23, a Global Prosperity Conference and an Alternative & Renewable Energy Conference on November 24.

Abdullah bin Zayed receives Minister of External Affairs of India

DUBAI, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, received Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs of India.

During the meeting, held in Dubai, they discussed the longstanding and strong historic relations between the UAE and India and ways to enhance them in all fields, including the economic aspect, as well as a number of issues of mutual interest.

Sheikh Abdullah emphasised the depth of the historic ties between the UAE and India and continuing keenness to enhance them in all fields, in light of the support and care given by the leadership of the two countries.

In turn, Jaishankar praised the strong historic ties between the UAE and India and congratulated the UAE on its being selected to host the 28th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 28) in 2023.

Expo 2020, a key global platform for reinforcing international cooperation, dialogue, says Prince of Monaco

DUBAI, Prince Albert II, Prince of Monaco, has called Expo 2020 Dubai a key global platform for reinforcing international cooperation and dialogue.

In his remarks on the sidelines of the celebration of the National Day of Monaco at Expo 2020 Dubai, he said the UAE and Monaco are centres of global exchanges, adding, “International expos are, in general, a key platform for international exchanges and dialogue, as well as to provide various opportunities to move forward.”

“Expo 2020 Dubai is also a great opportunity for us to enhance our cooperation with the UAE and establish links with other countries,” he added, noting Monaco is a centre for tourism, innovation, international exchange and global action to protect the environment and find new ways to produce and save energy.

Prince Albert highlighted the economic relations between the UAE and Monaco, stressing the role of Expo 2020 Dubai in promoting and reinforcing them.

He also noted other opportunities for cooperation between Monaco and the UAE, including in the areas of technology, sustainability, culture and sports.

Monaco’s pavilion at Expo 2020 is located in the Opportunities District and is inspired by the legendary Rock of Monaco.

Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed visits Netherlands, New Zealand and Singapore pavilions at Expo 2020 Dubai

DUBAI, H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Office, visited the Netherlands, New Zealand and Singapore pavilions at Expo 2020.

During the visit, Sheikh Khaled was briefed on the themes and pioneering innovations on display in the three countries’ pavilions, which are all located in the Sustainability district at the Expo 2020 site.

He praised their use of ground-breaking technology and exploration of pressing themes to advance sustainability solutions in multiple fields, including climate change, farming, and communities.

Sheikh Khaled also highlighted the role of high profile global events such as Expo and COP28 – which will be hosted in the UAE in 2023 – in providing opportunities to enable knowledge exchange and build multi-lateral partnerships to help tackle global challenges.

The Netherlands pavilion at Expo 2020 is almost entirely self-sustaining, using Dutch technologies to showcase a circular system that harvests water and energy and produces food in a vertical farm.

The New Zealand pavilion explores the notion of shared and sustainable prosperity by caring for ‘people and place’.

Singapore’s net-zero pavilion features a rainforest installation powered by a self-sustaining ecosystem.
