University of Dubai, Luiss University sign MoU

DUBAI, A cooperation programme to foster advancement in teaching, research and cultural understanding.

This is the focal point of the agreement signed between the University of Dubai and Luiss Guido Carli in Rome.

The MoU was signed by Dr Eesa Mohammed Bastaki, President of the University of Dubai and Andrea Prencipe, Rector of Luiss Guido Carli in Rome, in the presence of Nasser Al Khaja, Head of Media and Public Diplomacy Section, at the UAE Embassy in Italy, and a number of top officials from both universities.

The two renowned universities will promote more contacts and cooperation between their faculty members.

It is to be emphasised that those two factors create a strong basis for the development of joint training programmes, formulating joint research projects, exchange of teaching materials, and exchange of students. University education is the precondition for social development, especially an expansion of transitive skills.

They are needed not only in business but in every aspect of social life. It is, therefore, necessary to build bridges for university connections and create networks of knowledge– diplomatic, economic, and commercial.

Under the signed agreement, both institutions will endeavour to develop and participate in entrepreneurship and innovation initiatives to strengthen creative capacity by boosting development through cooperation and the flow of knowledge among higher education, vocational education, and training, including research.

The purpose of this agreement is to promote an exchange between students regularly enrolled in graduate programmes at the University of Dubai and those regularly enrolled in an MBA programme at Luiss Business School.

UAE strongly condemns terrorist attack targeting Egyptian security forces in Ismailia, supports Egyptian government’s measures to confront terrorism

ABU DHABI, The UAE has strongly condemned the terrorist attack that targeted an Egyptian security checkpoint in Ismailia, which resulted in deaths and injuries.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC) expressed the UAE’s full support for all measures undertaken by the Egyptian government to protect its sovereignty and security, and combat terrorism.

In a statement, the Ministry affirmed that the UAE expresses its strong condemnation of these criminal acts and its permanent rejection of all forms of violence and terrorism aimed at undermining security and stability in contravention of human values and principles.

The Ministry also expressed its sincere condolences and sympathy to the Arab Republic of Egypt and its people and to the families of the victims of this heinous crime, as well as its wishes for a speedy recovery for all the injured.

DEWA encourages an active lifestyle by organising and sponsoring sporting competitions

In line with the directives of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai to make sporting activities and exercising a lifestyle in Dubai, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is committed to encouraging its employees to maintain a healthy lifestyle by exercising and finding a balance between work and social life. DEWA organised 12 sports tournaments in 2022, with the participation of 2,437 male and female employees from various divisions. Also, DEWA sponsored and hosted three sports tournaments, and participated in several local sports events.

Gov Games

DEWA supports and participates in the Gov Games, which are organised and supervised by the Executive Council of Dubai in cooperation with the Dubai Sports Council. Last year, DEWA actively participated in the 3rd cycle of the Gove Games. DEWA’s male and female teams consisted of 7 players each.

Dubai Fitness Challenge

DEWA has consolidated its participation and sponsorship of the Dubai Fitness Challenge through Mai Dubai, which is wholly owned by DEWA. It included an integrated programme designed specifically for this innovative challenge, with the aim of motivating the people in Dubai to increase their physical activity and commit to allocating at least 30 minutes per day for 30 days in practising a variety of fitness activities and sports.

Sheikha Hind Women’s Sports Tournament 2022

DEWA participated in the 10th Sheikha Hind Women’s Sports Tournament, held under the patronage of HH Sheikha Hind Bint Maktoum Bin Juma Al Maktoum, wife of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The 10th edition of the tournament was its largest to date. It was held from November 7 to November 21, 2022. Sixty-eight talented and highly-trained female employees from DEWA participated in 10 individual and group sports.

Community Cycling Challenge

The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, implemented by DEWA in Seih Al Dahal in Dubai, hosted the Community Cycling Challenge organised by Peloton Events, with the participation of 11 teams from across the UAE. The event was held under the patronage of the Dubai Sports Council and spanned 66 kilometres. The Solar Park is the largest single-site solar park in the world.

DEWA Bowling Tournament 2022

DEWA’s Sports Committee organised the DEWA Bowling Tournament 2022 at the Dubai International Bowling Center, with the participation of 120 employees from various divisions of DEWA.

February Sports Tournament

DEWA organised its sports tournaments for February at DEWA Academy, World Padel Academy, and G-Force Cricket Academy, with the participation of 337 male and female employees from all divisions of DEWA. The tournaments included chess, padel and cricket.

Ramadan Women’s Football Tournament

DEWA women’s team won first place in the Ramadan Women’s Football Tournament, organised by Dubai Sports Council in cooperation with Jam Sports Academy. The team included 15 female players. It topped the group after its success in maintaining a clean sheet in all games.
