HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer visits DEWA’s Innovation Centre at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD&CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), visited DEWA’s Innovation Centre at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park. He inspected the centre’s departments and was briefed on its latest projects and initiatives to support innovation in clean and renewable energy as well as develop skills and build capacity of the next generation of innovators in clean energy technologies. Al Tayer was also briefed on the innovative experiences that will be introduced on the 4th floor of the Innovation Centre, which include the Metaverse Experience and the digital telescope, as well as the panoramic view of the solar park

Al Tayer was welcomed at the Innovation Centre by Waleed Bin Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Excellence at DEWA, Dr Aaesha Alnuaimi, Director of the Innovation Centre, and the Innovation Centre staff.

“DEWA places innovation at the top of its priorities to achieve the government plans and strategies. These include the National Innovation Strategy to make the UAE one of the most innovative countries in the world and embark on a new phase that promotes innovation among individuals and businesses and focus on sectors that will lead innovation in the future, including renewable and clean energy, as well as the Dubai Innovation Strategy to make Dubai the most innovative city in the world,” said Al Tayer.

“We are keen to invest in innovation, especially in the renewable and clean energy sector. DEWA’s Innovation Centre at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park has established itself as a global platform that contributes to promoting the future of sustainable energy within an integrated system run by Emiratis. The centre supports the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050 to provide 100% of Dubai’s total power production capacity from clean energy sources by 2050. It also supports DEWA’s efforts to develop the capacity of the next generation of innovators in clean energy technology as well as prepare Emirati calibres empowered with tools for anticipating and shaping a sustainable future for Dubai and the UAE. The Innovation Centre also promotes innovation among individuals and corporates,” added Al Tayer.

Waleed Bin Salman said that the Innovation Centre is a global incubator for innovation in the energy and water sectors, and a major landmark of Dubai that provides a pioneering experience for visitors to learn about the latest innovations in various fields of clean and renewable energy. It also provides a unique educational environment by hosting events and building partnerships for cooperation in different areas of innovation as well as exchanging knowledge and expertise.

DEWA’s Innovation Centre offers visitors the opportunity to explore the latest innovations in clean energy technologies, watch pioneering shows using drones and hologram technology, and try several interactive experiences, including the autonomous bus ride. Using Metaverse technology, the Centre at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park.

The exhibition area on the first floor focuses on DEWA’s journey, key historical inventions and innovations in electricity. The area includes over 35 interactive exhibits designed to introduce visitors to developments in clean and renewable energy. The site also houses the DEWA Museum, water desalination plants, and a visual space that explains the properties of light and solar radiation. The Centre features an exhibition on critical components of photovoltaic solar cells and related technologies, including Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) and the Solar Power Tower. It also showcases DEWA’s renewable energy journey, Smart DEWA, solar cell applications in spacecraft and satellites, and the development of DEWA’s sustainable buildings.

The Innovation Centre welcomes visitors Saturdays to Wednesdays, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, and Thursdays from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Tickets are available on https://www.mbrsic.ae/or the Centre’s smart app (MBRSIC). Hologram shows are organised every Saturday and Sunday at 10:30 am and 02:30 pm. The Centre offers discounts on tickets for children and students and free entrance for people of determination.

Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police receives 3rd place winning team

SHARJAH, Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, received the Sharjah Police team, third place winners in the sixth edition of the Police Championship for Specialised Teams, on Thursday morning at the Police Science Academy.

The tournament was organised by Police Sports Association in cooperation with Dubai Police with the participation of 11 teams

Al Shamsi stated that force’s participation in the tournament reflects its keenness to enhance cooperation among its departments and units, and an opportunity to exchange skills and experiences with the other teams.

He hailed the team’s efforts and encouraged them to stay fit and ready.

Mohammed bin Rashid receives credentials of new ambassadors to UAE

DUBAI, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, received the credentials of new ambassadors to the UAE, at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed, in the presence of H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court, and H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, welcomed the ambassadors and wished them success in their missions to boost cooperation and friendly relations between the UAE and their respective countries.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid underscored the UAE’s keenness to enhance bilateral cooperation in various fields to serve the interests of the UAE and the friendly countries.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed received the credentials of Sharif Mahmoud Said, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the UAE; Dr. Etienne Berchtold, Ambassador of the Republic of Austria to the UAE; Fafa Sanyang, Ambassador of the Republic of Gambia to the UAE; Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the UAE; Yoo Jehseung, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the UAE; and Elchin Bagirov, Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the UAE.

The ambassadors conveyed the greetings of their leaders to the UAE and its people, wishing them further progress and prosperity.

The ceremony was also attended by H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Media Council; Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, and other senior officials.

King of Thailand receives UAE Ambassador

ABU DHABI, His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn of Thailand received His Excellency Saif Abdullah Al Shamsi, UAE Ambassador to Thailand, on the occasion of the end of his tenure as ambassador.

Al Shamsi conveyed the greetings of UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to His Majesty King Vajiralongkorn and their wishes for further progress and prosperity for his country and people.

He also underscored the strength of bilateral relations between the two countries, which span 45 years, and thanked His Majesty the King of Thailand for the support he received from the Thai government during his tenure as UAE Ambassador to Thailand.

For his part, His Majesty King Vajiralongkorn conveyed his greetings to His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, as well as his wishes for further development and growth for the UAE government and people.

His Majesty King Vajiralongkorn praised His Excellency Al Shamsi’s efforts to strengthen relations between the UAE and the Kingdom of Thailand and wished him success in his future endeavours.
