MBRSG concludes training programme in collaboration with German business school WHU

DUBAI, The Mohammed bin Rashid School of Government (MBRSG) recently concluded a training programme in collaboration with the German business school WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management.

The programme aimed to train a group of WHU master’s students on the latest administrative systems and introduce them to the UAE’s experience in that regard.

The programme reinforced classroom teaching and allowed students to learn more about doing business in the UAE, using real-life case studies on culture, international business policies, global governance, crisis management, social entrepreneurship, competitiveness, and economics.

Dr. Ali bin Sebaa Al Marri, Executive President of MBRSG, said, “The ‘International Module in the UAE’ training programme, organised with renowned German academic institution WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management, is a testament to our commitment to collaborating with like-minded institutions and promoting our philosophy, inspired by the forward-looking vision of our leadership. Dr. Immanuel Azaad Moonesar, Associate Professor in Health Administration and Policy, who was responsible for the programme, stated: “We were pleased to host another group of talented MBA students from Germany in the UAE. We provided them with an in-depth understanding of the inner workings of our successful institutions and policies, further expanding our network of close partnerships with influential institutions from around the world, and the UAE’s.”

The programme is a translation of the agreement signed between MBRSG and WHU and is aimed at preparing business professionals and leaders for the requirements of an increasingly volatile and rapidly developing future.

As Deputy Dean of WHU, Professor Dr Juergen Weigand stated, “MBRSG offers our students a unique opportunity to learn about a country’s economic development strategy and the relationship between the private sector and government in a culturally distinct environment defined by hard work and productive partnerships.”

Dr Zeeshan Sultan, Programme Director for the MBA at WHU, emphasised the partnership with MBRSG, saying, “The study trip to Dubai, in collaboration with MBRSG, provides WHU students with the ideal blend of cross-cultural immersion and academic frameworks to navigate the cultural and business environment in the UAE.”

Dubai’s weeklong real estate transactions exceed AED 8.4 bn

DUBAI, A total of 2,786 real estate transactions worth over AED 8.4 billion were conducted during the week ending 27th January, 2023, according to figures released by the Dubai Land Department (DLD).

The DLD report showed that 285 plots were sold for AED 1.7 billion, while 2,043 apartments and villas were purchased for AED 4.43 billion.

The top three transactions were a land in Al Safouh Second sold for AED 140 million, a land sold for AED 122.5 million in Al Thanyah Fifth, and another in Al Safouh Second sold for AED 140 million.

Al Hebiah Fifth recorded the most sales transactions for this week with 135 transactions worth AED 415.3 million, followed by Al Yufrah 1 with 56 transactions worth AED 332 million, and Al Yufrah 2 First with 20 transactions worth AED 22 million.

The top three apartment and villa transfers included one in Palm Jumeirah for AED 86 million, another in Al Bada worth AED 49 million, and an apartment in Al Mezhar First worth AED 40 million.

The value of mortgaged properties for the week reached AED 1.56 billion. Meanwhile, 60 properties were granted between first-degree relatives worth AED 784 million.

DoH to present unparalleled healthcare breakthroughs at Arab Health 2023

The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH), the regulator of the healthcare sector in the Emirate, is set to showcase Abu Dhabi’s pioneering healthcare model during Arab Health 2023, the MENA region’s leading exhibition for the healthcare industry, taking place at Dubai World Trade Centre from 30 January to 2 February 2023. Under the “Emirates Health” stand, DoH will be participating in the event alongside the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) and Dubai Health Authority (DHA) located in Hall 5, Stand No. H5.B10.

In this year’s edition of the event, DoH is set to exhibit its latest projects related to digital health, genome and precision medicine programme as well as healthcare ecosystem in the Metaverse and more. Noor Dubai Foundation honours partners supporting visual impairment programme

DUBAI, Noor Dubai Foundation, a UAE-based charity focused on the prevention of blindness and visual impairment globally, recently held a ceremony to award its partners and contributors.

Awadh Seghayer Al Ketbi, Chairman of the Board of the Noor Dubai Foundation, expressed his gratitude to the partners and contributors of the Noor Dubai Foundation.

Since its inception in 2008, Al Ketbi said that Noor Dubai succeeded in benefiting 33 million people around the world, through its treatment, preventive and awareness programmes.

Al Ketbi expressed his gratitude to all the partners and contributors and highlighted that the UAE has made an impactful contribution in the field of humanitarian and charitable aid. He emphasised that this stems from the values of the leaders and the UAE society that pay great emphasis to social and humanitarian work.

The award ceremony was attended by top officials, including Major General Obaid Muhair bin Suroor, Deputy Director-General of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners and Chairman of the Permanent Committee for Labour Affairs (PCLA) in Dubai.

Suroor thanked all stakeholders for their efforts in supporting the PCLA in Dubai, explaining that it is necessary to pay attention to the labour community’s needs as they are a key partner in development. The improved accessibility to eye care provided by the Noor Dubai Foundation – for the early detection and treatment of low vision – is an essential service to avoid the harm that may result from the risks of vision problems.

Dr. Amar Safar, Medical Director at Moorfields hospital Dubai, mentioned that one of the values that Moorfields Hospitals is keen on is investing in humanitarian and philanthropic work, Moorfields Dubai was one of the first medical facilities to support Noor Dubai Foundation’s Emirates Treatment Programme.

Dr. Maryam Al Rayssi, CEO of Dubai Hospital, stated that the partnership between Dubai Hospital and Noor Dubai Foundation dates back to 2008, when Dubai hospital hosted patients and their families from the Middle East, Asia and Africa. She added that Dubai Hospital is committed towards sustaining the collaboration with Noor Dubai to reach out to those in need.

From his side, Saleh Al Shawa, General Manager of Al Jaber Optical Group, noted that Al Jaber Group participated in many initiatives for the early detection of eye diseases and also distributed eyeglasses to the needy free-of-charge.

Similarly, other companies in the optical field, such as Aster Opticals participated in screening and treating thousands across the emirate. Neeraj Dabral, Operations Manager at Aster Opticals, was among the participants and highlighted the charitable and humanitarian work of Aster Optical, saying that its among its top priorities.

Among the awardees were a number of eye-care providers in Dubai, including the Eye Consultants Centre and the Health Fund Office. Early detection programmes are scheduled to continue to include 6,000 beneficiaries this year and more than 500 surgical treatments.

Dubai Foundation for Women and Children organises workshop on Generalised Anxiety Disorder

DUBAI, Dubai Foundation for Women and Children (DFWAC) has organised a workshop titled “Generalized Anxiety Disorder” from 23-26 January 2023, to discuss the latest developments on generalised anxiety disorder and provide information on the most effective therapeutic techniques based on cognitive-behavioural therapy.

The workshop, which aimed to improve participants’ knowledge and abilities about this disorder, brought together 55 participants, including psychologists, social workers, and psychiatrists working in healthcare centres, shelters, police departments, social institutions, courts, prosecutors, the Ministry of Interior, and the Ministry of Community Development. Additionally, it featured high-profile speakers from Canada, America, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.

Shaikha Saeed Al Mansouri, Acting Director-General of DFWAC, stressed that the workshop played a significant role in educating participants on generalised anxiety disorder, a condition characterised by excessive tension and anxiety that persists for prolonged periods and is often triggered by daily events related to family and work, as well as fears about the future.

Al Mansouri added that the gathering also discussed the negative effects of anxiety disorder on individuals, families, and communities.

She highlighted that the Foundation, through the workshop, looks forward to achieving a series of goals, including imparting comprehensive knowledge about generalised anxiety disorder, its symptoms, and methods of evaluation.

Additionally, participants were introduced to the principles of cognitive-behavioural therapy, and informed about various therapeutic methods and the scientific evidence supporting them for treating generalised anxiety disorder. They also learned skills and techniques used in cognitive behavioural therapy, including practical applications and exercises for treating generalized anxiety disorder.

The four-day event covered eight key topics, including an overview of generalised anxiety disorder, an introduction to cognitive-behavioural therapy, a detailed model of cognitive-behavioural treatment for generalised anxiety disorder, and case studies of patients with generalised anxiety disorder using cognitive perception of the situation. Additionally, participants will learn about the cognitive components of generalised anxiety disorder and how to address them.

The workshop also included discussions on how to apply relaxation techniques to support individuals with generalised anxiety disorder, how to use different exposure methods, including real and imagined exposure, and how to implement strategies for preventing relapse in generalised anxiety disorder.
