Ajman Civil Defence brings fire under control in a remarkable seven-minute time frame

AJMAN, The General Administration of Civil Defence’s firefighting teams in Ajman, with assistance from the regional departments in Dubai, Sharjah, and Umm Al Qaiwain, successfully brought under control a fire that erupted on Friday morning at an oil and lubricant factory located in the New Industrial Area.

The factory, a printing press, a warehouse for ready-made clothes, 9 commercial stores, and a residential building consisting of two floors were damaged in the incident.

Additionally, 39 cars that were parked next to the factory also caught fire and were completely burned.

The accident led to five injuries, with four being moderate and one minor.

Major General Sheikh Sultan bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of the Ajman Police, stated that a report was received at the operations room at 3:15 am, and the police patrols and civil defence teams quickly responded, arriving at the site of the accident within seven minutes.

They requested support from neighbouring Emirates, Dubai, Sharjah, Umm Al Qaiwain, and Ajman Police to secure the site. The National Ambulance, the Union Electricity and Water Company, the Municipality and Planning Department, and the Emirates Red Crescent also provided support.

Specialised teams began evacuating and fighting the fire. The fire spread due to the leakage of oils, and reached to neighbouring buildings.

Colonel Raed Obaid Al Zaabi, Director General of Ajman Civil Defence, said that the civil defence teams were able to put out the fire and started cooling operations at the site. The police took over the site to investigate the causes of the fire.

Several officials, including the Maj. Gen. Dr. Jassim Mohammed Al Marzougi, UAE Civil Defence Commander in Chief and other top police officers, were present on the accident site.
