Tristar Group contributes AED 5 million towards ‘1 Billion Meals Endowment’ Campaign

DUBAI, Tristar Group, a fully integrated energy logistics business with headquarters in Dubai, has donated AED 5 million towards the “1 Billion Meals Endowment” campaign, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, parallel to the Holy Month of Ramadan with the aim of launching a sustainable food aid endowment fund.

The campaign aims to provide a food safety net for underprivileged populations, as well as implement sustainable solutions under a comprehensive, targeted plan to fight hunger, limit its repercussions and support vulnerable groups around the world.

With this contribution, Tristar Group joins a large number of institutions, businesses and individuals who lent their support to the campaign to help achieve its objective of providing food aid to vulnerable groups around the world, especially children, displaced persons, refugees and victims of crises and natural disasters.

The campaign offers individuals, businesses, businessmen and influential philanthropists new and sustainable ways to donate and make a difference.

The “1 Billion Meals Endowment” campaign welcomes donations and contributions to the endowment fund from institutions and individuals across five main channels including the campaign’s website (www.1billionmeals.ae), as well as a dedicated call centre via the toll free number (800 9999).

Donations are also possible via bank transfers in the UAE Dirham to the campaign bank account number with Emirates NBD (AE30 0260 0010 1533 3439 802).

Donations via SMS give contributors the option to donate AED 1 daily through a monthly subscription, by sending the word “Meal” to 1020 for du users, or to 1110 for Etisalat by eand users.

Those who wish to donate to the campaign through the DubaiNow app can do so by clicking on the “Donations” tab.

‘ADAFSA’ launches intensive campaign to ensure food safety in Ramadan

ABU DHABI, In conjunction with the Holy Month of Ramadan, the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) has launched an intensive inspection and awareness campaign to ensure the safe handling of food and reduce food waste as part of its efforts to enhance food safety in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and achieve the welfare and safety of the community.

The inspection campaigns focus on monitoring and correcting wrong practices in food establishments through approved procedures, in order to ensure access to the highest levels of food safety during Ramadan, including food stores, distribution centres, suppliers, sales outlets, supermarkets, groceries, restaurants, traditional kitchens and catering companies.

They also target meat and fish markets and vegetable and fruit shops to ensure their compliance with food safety requirements.

Meanwhile, the awareness campaign on food waste focuses on its harmful economic and environmental impacts, as ADAFSA provides a set of tips and guidelines to the consumer public on the importance of preserving food and encouraging the optimal use of food.

DAFSA affirmed that its inspection teams are intensifying their visits to food establishments operating throughout the emirate to ensure compliance with the highest standards of food safety and hygiene in these establishments.

They also aim to raise awareness among workers about the correct practices for food safety, such as handling food in a healthy manner in terms of preservation and storage, maintaining general cleanliness of preparation areas, and emphasising the importance of personal hygiene and handwashing in designated facilities. In addition to the commitment to wear protective clothing such as head covers, masks and gloves, in order to establish the responsibility of food handlers to adhere to food safety practices and requirements.

In conjunction with its inspection efforts, ADAFSA has launched a wide-ranging awareness campaign for all segments of society to promote the concept of food safety culture in all stages of the food chain. This includes tips and guidelines on proper food shopping, as well as proper practices in storage, preparation, cooking, preservation, and serving of food.

It also includes raising awareness about the potential risks of wrong behaviours and practices in handling meals and food products.

The Authority also highlighted that this year’s awareness campaign focuses on food waste and its harmful economic and environmental impact on society.

It offers a range of tips and guidance to consumers on the importance of preserving food and encouraging effective use of food, as well as raising awareness of the importance of smart shopping based on buying the necessary amounts of food that suit the size of the family, and checking the expiration date before purchasing food items.

DAFSA pointed out that the campaign aims to change the behaviour of individuals in dealing with food, especially with the increase in the consumption of food during the month of Ramadan, in addition to building community awareness of the importance of reducing food waste by preserving food items, planning meals, and determining appropriate quantities of food to be purchased.

It also pointed out that the awareness and guidance campaigns are implemented through its official accounts on social media in addition to some interactive activities with the public to raise community awareness of the best correct food and safe handling practices and waste reduction.

The Authority also encourages the public to communicate with them and report any violations detected in any food establishment, such as non-compliance or suspicion of food content, by calling the toll-free number for the Abu Dhabi government, 800555. ADAFSA’s inspectors will handle the complaints and take the necessary measures to ensure the delivery of safe and sound food to all members of the community in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah receives Ramadan well-wishers

RAS AL KHAIMAH, H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, Saturday received Ramadan well-wishers at Al Dhiyafa Majlis in Khozam area, here on the tenth day of the holy month.

He received the greetings of sheikhs, state officials and heads of local government departments as well as dignitaries and Emiratis, who prayed to Allah Almighty to revisit the fasting month with more goodness, progress, security, safety and prosperity for the UAE and its people.

The reception was attended by several top officials of the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah.

Fujairah Ruler receives Ramadan well-wishers


FUJAIRAH: H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, received on Monday a host of Ramadan well-wishers, in the presence of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah.

H.H. Sheikh Hamad accepted Ramadan greetings from Sheikhs, senior officials, and heads of local government departments.

The well-wishers prayed to Allah Almighty to revisit the fasting month with more goodness, progress, security, safety and prosperity for the UAE and its people.

Sharjah Police, Etisalat Services Holding coordinate on optimal investment in IT solutions

SHARJAH, Major General Saif Al-Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, received a delegation from the Etisalat Services Holding (ESH) and its subsidiaries, headed by Muammar Al-Rukhimi, CEO of “Etisalat”.

The visit aims to acquaint Sharjah Police with the best practices and applications in the field of optimal investment in information and communication technology solutions and enablers and digital technologies, and to introduce the importance of the role of the communications and information technology industry, which enhances the readiness of security work, in order to ensure the achievement of the strategic goals of the Ministry of Interior 2023-2026. Welcoming the visiting delegation, Al Shamsi praised the leading position enjoyed by ESH in the field of technological infrastructure services by adopting and developing highly efficient and quality systems that contribute to developing and improving performance and productivity, and enhancing the quality of services provided. The meeting stressed the importance of building bridges of communication with the various private sectors and institutions, in a way that contributes to the exchange of ideas and visions that support the government’s directions in enhancing the quality of life. At the end of the visit, Major General Al Shamsi presented a commemorative shield to the CEO of ESH, looking forward to strengthening this communication between the two sides.
