Abdel Salam congratulates Ramadan deal completion for prisoners swap

The head of the national negotiating delegation, Mohamed Abdel Salam, congratulated on Sunday the liberated prisoners for the completion of the Ramadan deal for the prisoners swap.

Abdel Salam said in a tweet on the social networking site “Twitter”, “We congratulate our liberated prisoners on the completion of the first deal in exchange for handing over Saudi, Sudanese and other prisoners.”

He thanked the National Committee for Prisoners’ Affairs for its efforts, as well as the Red Cross and the United Nations for the facilities it provided, expressing hope that the rest of this important humanitarian file would be completed.

Arrival of two container ships of various commercial goods to Hodeida port

Two container ships carrying 784 containers of various commercial goods arrived at the port of Hodeida.

The director of the container terminal at the Yemeni Red Sea Ports Corporation, Captain Shawqi Ali Murshid, told the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), that the MARSA VICTORY ship carrying 297 containers on board and the LOBIVIA ship carrying 487 containers arrived at the berths of the port of Hodeida.

Captain Murshid praised the efforts to receive container ships and the mechanism for unloading their cargo, stressing the Red Sea Ports Corporation’s keenness to overcome the procedures for entering ships and work within the paths of continuous readiness to unload container ships and transport goods and not delay them at the port’s berths.

More than 36,000 Visitors to the Prophet’s Mosque Benefit from Medical Services during Ramadan

During the holy month of Ramadan, the medical teams at the temporary health clinics located at the access points, the Prophet’s Mosque, and other frequently visited locations in Madinah treated over 36,000 people.

Al-Haram Hospital provided medical services to 6,993 visitors, while 10,350 patients at Al-Safia Health Center, located next to the Prophet’s Mosque, received medical care. The Bab Jabreel Health Center, situated next to the eastern courtyard of the Prophet’s Mosque and designated for handling emergency and critical cases, provided services to 762 visitors of the mosque. Additionally, 15,848 beneficiaries received primary medical care at the health center at Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport during the recent days of the holy month. The health center at the Haramain Express Train Station provided a variety of medical services to 1,040 visitors from various nationalities, while 1,199 visitors benefited from the ambulance service to hospitals and medical facilities.

Saudi National Team for Physics Wins 4 Medals at 2023 Nordic-Baltic Physics Olympiad

The Saudi national team for physics has secured four medals in the 20th edition of the Nordic-Baltic Physics Olympiad, one of the most esteemed competitions worldwide, hosted by the Republic of Estonia from April 14-16. The Saudi national team won two silver medals and two bronze medals among 91 students representing nine countries.

Hussein Qadah, a third-grade secondary student from Jeddah Education Department, won a silver medal after 2,400 hours of intensive training by a group of Saudi and foreign trainers in the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba). Mohammed Al-Barakat, a second-grade secondary student from the Eastern Region, also won a silver medal after receiving 2,400 training hours.

In addition, Mazen Al-Shakhs, a first-grade secondary student from Al-Ahsa, won a bronze medal after receiving 2,000 hours of intensive training, while Roz Al-Sindi, a first-grade secondary student from Makkah Education Department, won another bronze medal after receiving 1,700 hours of training.

This accomplishment marks an extension of the Kingdom’s scientific achievements in international competitions and reflects the success of the complementary relationship between Mawhiba, the Ministry of Education, and their strategic partners.

Asian Shares Rise

Asian markets rose Monday, although worries continued about economic growth and inflationary pressures, the Associated Press reported.

Japan’s benchmark Nikkei 225 inched up nearly 0.1% to 28,514.78. Australia’s SandP/ASX 200 edged up 0.3% to 7,381.50, while South Korea’s Kospi rose 0.2% to 2,575.91. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng added 1.7% to 20,793.06. The Shanghai Composite gained 1.4% to 3,385.61.

In energy trading, benchmark US crude rose 3 cents to $82.55 a barrel. Brent crude added 7 cents to $86.38 a barrel.

In currency trading, the US dollar inched up to 134.02 Japanese yen from 133.75 yen. The euro cost $1.0990, down from $1.0997.

South Korea’s Automotive Export Hits Record High in March

South Korea’s automotive export hit a record high last month thanks to robust demand for eco-friendly vehicles, Xinhua reported Monday.

Car shipment soared 64.1 percent from a year earlier to $6.52 billion in March, according to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. It marked the country’s highest monthly auto shipment, continuing to grow for the eighth consecutive month since August last year.

The number of exported vehicles in March was 262,341, up 48.0 percent over the same month of last year.

Export for eco-friendly cars jumped 94.7 percent to $2.27 billion, while the number of exported such vehicles surged 79.5 percent to 71,781. Both figures recorded highs last month.

The number of vehicles manufactured in local factories gained 35.6 percent from a year earlier to 409,806 in March, topping 400,000 in six years amid the eased supply disruption of semiconductors used to make cars.

The number of cars sold in South Korea, including locally made and imported vehicles, was 165,851 in March, up 19.6 percent from a year earlier.
