Ukraine announced that it has received the US Patriot air defense systems, in a move it says it will help protect its airspace from Russian missiles.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov announced today that his country’s military received the first US Patriot surface-to-air missile defense systems.
“Today, our beautiful Ukrainian sky becomes more secure because Patriot air defense systems have arrived in Ukraine,” he tweeted, adding: “Our partners have kept their word.” Early this month, the United States announced a new military aid package to Ukraine worth USD 2.6 billion, which includes Patriot surface-to-air missile defense systems and artillery ammunition, bringing the total value of military aid provided by the United States to Ukraine since the Russian military operation began on February 24, 2022, to USD 35.1 billion.
