The National Center of Meteorology forecast that thunderstorms will continue from medium to heavy, accompanied by showers of hail and active winds, leading to torrents in the regions of Riyadh, Hail, Najran, Jazan, Asir and Baha extending to Makkah. There is still a chance of thunderstorms accompanied by showers of hail and activity in the surface winds that raise dust in parts of the regions of Qassim, Madinah, Tabuk, Jawf, Northern Borders and parts of the Eastern Region, it said in its report on the weather for today.

It indicated that the movement of surface winds on the Red Sea is northwesterly to southwesterly over the northern part, at a speed of 18-38 km/h, and southeasterly turning to southwesterly over the southern and central part, at a speed of 15-38 km/h. Meanwhile, the movement of surface winds in the Arabian Gulf is westerly to southwesterly at a speed of 12-32 km/h.

Saudi FM, EU High Rep. discuss military de-escalation in Sudan

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell Sunday discussed efforts made for military de-escalation between the warring parties in Sudan.

This came during a phone call received by Prince Faisal from Borrell, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

The two sides also discussed endeavors to end violence and provide protection to the Sudanese civilians and expats to maintain Sudan’s security and stability, and achieve welfare of its people.

They further reviewed the latest regional and international developments, and the efforts exerted in this regard mainly to enhance international peace and security, it said.

Minister of Foreign Affairs receives phone call from European Union High Representative

Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, received today a phone call from the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell.

During the conversation, the two sides discussed the efforts being exerted to stop the military escalation between the conflicting parties in the Republic of Sudan, end the violence, and provide the necessary protection for Sudanese civilians and residents on its territories in a way that guarantees its security, stability, well-being and brotherly people.

The two sides also reviewed the latest regional and international developments and the efforts being exerted in this regard, especially in enhancing international peace and security.

Kuwait First Deputy PM committed to safety of nationals evacuated from Sudan

Kuwait First Deputy Prime Minister, Interior Minister and Acting Defense Minister Sheikh Talal Khaled Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah stressed keenness of the political leadership on safety and security of the nationals coming from Sudan.

This came when the minister received 25 Kuwaiti citizens coming from Jaddah international airport as part of the emergency plan aiming to evacuate the Kuwaitis stuck in Sudan due to the ongoing clashes, the Defense Ministry said in a statement.

The political leadership is following closely the efforts made by the Foreign Ministry led by Minister Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the Kuwaiti embassy staff in Sudan in securing the Kuwaitis coming from Sudan, the minister said.

He extolled the efforts and facilitations made by Saudi Arabia led, by King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman, that contributed to evacuating successfully the sisterly and friendly countries’ citizens.

The minister expressed greetings of Eid to the nationals who came from Sudan, praying to Allah the Almighty to protect Kuwait, its people and wise leadership.

Foreign Minister Receives Phone Call from Qatari Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs

Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, received a phone call from Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, on Sunday.

The conversation began with both sides exchanging greetings and congratulations on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr.

The Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs then praised the successful evacuation of Saudi citizens and nationals of brotherly and friendly countries from the Republic of Sudan to the Kingdom and expressed his gratitude for the evacuation of several Qatari citizens and other nationals.

Additionally, the two ministers discussed efforts to stop the military escalation between the conflicting parties in Sudan, put an end to violence, provide the necessary protection for Sudanese civilians, and defuse the escalating tensions in multiple vital locations inside Sudan.

Canada Temporarily Suspends Diplomatic Activities in Sudan

Canada announced Sunday that it had temporarily suspended its diplomatic activities in Sudan.

A decision has been made to temporarily suspend operations in Sudan, while limited consular services will continue, the Canadian government said in a statement, adding that Canadian diplomats will temporarily operate from a safe location outside Sudan.

The statement added that Canadian diplomats will continue working with the Sudan government, neighboring countries and international community to coordinate the response to this crisis, urging all parties to immediately ceasefire and engage in mediation efforts supported by the regional partners that promote permanent dialogue and peace.
