Dubai Press Club: the General Secretariat of the Arab Journalism Awards (AJA), today announced the board of directors of the award will hold a review meeting to align the platform with latest developments in the media landscape.
Scheduled to be held from 26 – 27 September 2012, the meeting will evaluate the recommendation of the General Secretariat to institute two new award categories. If the suggestions are passed, Journalism Campaign Award’ will recognise Arab media institutions for executing initiatives that highlight community-related issues. The other category for Humanitarian Journalism Award’ will reward journalists for shedding light on humanitarian cases that are forgotten or failed to receive the recognition they deserved.
The board will also discuss the implementation of an online judging process to streamline the work of the jury committee. The General Secretariat is studying the feasibility of shifting the process to the virtual space following the success of the online nomination tool that was introduced last year.
The board will additionally finalise a date in October to open submissions for the 12th edition of the Arab Journalism Awards to Arab journalists based in the Middle East and across the world.
