BACA to offer handicraft training sessions

Manama, Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) said that registration for training on handicraft was open.

People interested in culture, heritage and manual skills were urged to participate in the training program in order to work on the production of materials that will be used in Bahrain's pavilion at the 2020 Expo-Dubai on October 20-April 10.

The training program aims to transfer the expertise of local craftsmen to the younger generations, develop craft and artistic skills and create cooperation between artists and designers alike, BACA said in its statement.

The training program will focus on learning the basics of craftsmanship, preparing materials, converting skills into a product, linking different crafts through potential collaborations, weaving various crafts together, enhancing cooperation between craftsmen and designers and linking craftsmanship to art and design.

The training is open to Bahrainis and to residents over the age of 18 and with genuine interest in culture, heritage and handicrafts, BACA said.
