GCC calls for self-restraint amidst regional tensions

RIYADH: The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, in a statement issued today, emphasised the importance of maintaining regional and global security and stability in light of recent developments in the Middle East.

In a statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), he urged all parties involved to exercise maximum self-restraint to prevent further escalation that could threaten regional stability and civilian safety.

Albudaiwi stressed the need for collaborative efforts and diplomatic solutions to resolve disputes and ensure regional security.

He underscored the crucial role of the international community in supporting these peace and stability efforts, and highlighted the potential consequences of further escalation.

The statement concluded with a call for all relevant parties to commit to upholding regional and global security and peace.

Real estate transactions in Ajman reach AED1.46 billion in March 2024

AJMAN: Ajman witnessed 1169 real estate transactions in March, totalling AED1.46 billion. This marks a significant growth of over 49.9 percent compared to the same period in 2023.

Engineer Omar bin Omair Al Muhairi, Director General of the Department of Land and Real Estate Regulation in Ajman, estimated the total volume of transactions during the same period to be AED1.03 billion, noting the highest sales value was recorded in the Al Helio 1 area at AED72 million.

He explained that the real estate sector in Ajman is thriving, marked by record-breaking numbers and outstanding performance. This success highlights Ajman’s appeal to investors, meeting their diverse needs and aspirations. The emirate is experiencing growing demand across property types, with sales continuously rising thanks to its competitive advantages and supportive investment climate for entrepreneurs and investors.

Al Muhairi pointed out that the department recorded 168 mortgage transactions exceeding AED 280 million in March 2024, with th
e highest mortgage value recorded in the “Al Rawda 1” area at AED 20.9 million. The “Al Yasmeen” neighborhood topped the list of the most traded neighborhoods, followed by “Al Helio 2” and “Al Zahia”. Additionally, the “Ajman One” project led the list of the most traded major projects, surpassing both the “Emirates City Ajman” and “City Towers Ajman” projects.

Lebanon closes airspace

BEIRUT: The Lebanese Ministry of Public Works and Transport has announced an immediate and temporary closure of the nation’s airspace in response to the ongoing regional developments,

The decision, effective from 1:00 AM to 7:00 AM on Sunday, April 14, encompasses all incoming, outgoing, and transit flights over Lebanon.

As a result, all air traffic at Beirut’s Rafik Hariri International Airport has been suspended for the duration mentioned.

The Lebanese authorities have promised to review the airspace closure continuously and adjust measures based on the developments.

UAE President, King of Jordan discuss regional developments

ABU DHABI: President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan spoke by telephone today with His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, during which they reviewed fraternal relations and ways to enhance cooperation and joint coordination across various domains to serve their mutual benefits.

His Highness and His Majesty also discussed developments in the Middle East, most notably the worsening crisis taking place in the Gaza Strip and efforts to reach an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza, in addition to the priority of providing protection for civilians and enhancing the flow of humanitarian, medical and relief aid to the people of Gaza.

The two sides underscored the importance of coordinating Arab efforts in this regard, emphasising the need for urgent action by the international community to contain tension and push efforts towards a path of a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace based on the two-state solution to ensure stability and security for all.

Tashkent: The Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, arrived today in the Uzbekistan capital, Tashkent, to attend the second ministerial meeting between GCC countries and Central Asian states, scheduled for tomorrow, and to hold several meetings.

At Tashkent International Airport, the minister was received by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Bahram Aliyev.

Kuwait, April 13 – Kuwaiti cabinet affirmed keenness on responding to all regional incidents and surrounding conditions in a way that protects the security and stability of Kuwait amid the accelerating developments in the region.

This came during the Kuwaiti cabinet’s extraordinary meeting on Saturday under the chairmanship of HH the Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah.

The meeting heard presentations by several ministers on the precautionary measures made by their respective ministries and competent state agencies to address any eventuality, particularly in the security domain.

The cabinet reaffirmed commitment to protecting the security and stability of the country.
