Foreign Minister Meets with His Algerian Counterpart


Riyadh: The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, met in Riyadh today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad of People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, Ahmed Attaf, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) special meeting.

During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries and ways to strengthen and develop them to achieve common interests. The two sides also discussed the latest regional developments, including the crisis in the Gaza Strip.

Kuwait condemns terrorist attack on gas field in Iraqi Kurdistan


The State of Kuwait on Sunday condemned the terrorist attack that targeted a gas field in the Iraq’s Kurdistan region using drones, which left a number of casualties.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed Kuwait’s rejection of all forms of terrorism and stressed its solidarity with the Iraqi government in taking all measures to preserve Iraq’s security and stability.

The Ministry also called on the international community to unite and cooperate to refute aspects of terrorism and violence.

It conveyed Kuwait’s sincere condolences and sympathy to Iraq and to the families of the victims, wishing speedy recovery for the injured.

Arab FMs urge immediate ceasefire in Gaza


The six-party Arab consultative ministerial meeting called for ending the ongoing war on Gaza Strip and reaching an immediate ceasefire to protect the civilians in line with international humanitarian law.

The meeting, chaired by Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, gathered on Saturday Jordanian and Egyptian foreign ministers Ayman Al-Safadi and Sameh Shoukri, respectively, as well as Secretary General of Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization Hussein al-Sheikh, UAE’s presidential diplomatic adviser Anwar Gergash and Qatar’s Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mohammad Al-Khulaifi.

They conferees stressed the need of allowing the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza and backing all efforts for internationally recognition of Palestinian’s independent state to meet the aspirations of the brotherly Palestinian people, according to a statement by the Saudi Foreign Ministry.

They called for taking steps for a two-state solution and recognizing Palestine’s state
on June 4 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with relevant international resolutions.

The conferees renewed the categorical rejection of any attempts aiming to displace the Palestinian people outside their land and any military action in Palestine’s Rafah city, it said.

The statement affirmed that the Gaza Strip is an integral part of the occupied Palestinian territory.

The statement warned against Israeli’s ongoing illegal measures in the West Bank and the occupied East Jerusalem that undermine a two-state solution that include settlement expansion, confiscating land, military attacks on Palestinians, and restricting freedom of worship for Muslims and Christians.

Riyadh to host int’l meeting on Gaza this week — WEF chief


President of the World Economic Forum Borge Brende said Saturday that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and several international leaders will meet in Riyadh this week to discuss the effort to restore peace in Gaza Strip.

The meeting will be held on the sidelines of World Economic Forum meetings, he said at a press conference tonight.

“Key regional and international players are now in Riyadh,” he said, vocing hope that the discussions would lead into a process towards reconciliation and peace.

The humanitarian crisis in Gaza will feature prominently on the agenda of the meeting, Brende added.

Besides President Abbas, the meeting will gather US Secretary of State and Crown Prince of Oman, as well as the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Qatar.

Foreign Minister Meets with His Sri Lankan Counterpart


Riyadh: The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, met in Riyadh today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka, Ali Sabry, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) special meeting.

During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations and ways to enhance and develop them as well as strengthen bilateral coordination in many fields. The two sides also exchanged views on regional and international issues.

Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Meets with Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs of Mexico


Riyadh: The Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Eng. Waleed bin Abdulkarim El-Khereiji met today with the Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs of the United Mexican States, Ambassador Maria Teresa Mercado, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Special Meeting held in Riyadh.

The meeting involved a discussion on the mutual relations between the two countries, the most prominent regional and international developments, and the efforts being made in this regard.

The Mexican Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Anibal Toledo, was also present at the meeting.
