Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) employees have won seven medals in individual and group sports at the seventh Sheikha Hind Women’s Sports Tournament, organised by the Women’s Sports Committee of Dubai Sports Council under the directives of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council. It is held under the patronage of HH Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, wife of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
DEWA came first and third in Chess; first in the Road Race, second in CrossFit; and third in Swimming, Challenge Games, and Badminton.
The tournament ran from 12 to 26 October, with the participation of more than 1000 female players. The number of organisations participating this year increased to 50 government, semi-governmental, and private organisations. Crossfit and Challenge Games were added, increasing the number of games to 10 individual and group sports. The other games include Basketball, Volleyball, Swimming, Cycling, Road Race, Chess, Badminton, and Bowling.

The top management at DEWA and DEWA’s Sports Committee encourage female employees to improve their fitness and concentration and increasing focus and productivity in the workplace. This is the seventh time we have participated in the Sheikha Hind Women’s Sports Tournament, which promotes sports awareness among government employees. We are proud of DEWA’s team achievements in this edition. DEWA’s success included the following: Amal Al Aref came first in Chess, while Fayka Saleh came third; Nada Omar came first in the Road Race; Sara Shehady came second in Crossfit; while DEWA’s team comprising Mira Al Meel, Sara Shehady, Afra Thaloob, Raouia Hamiche, Hiba Eldada, Noora Alsarah, and Maitha Albastaki came third in the Challenge Games. Finally, Sumeya Ayoun came third in Swimming and Aisha Shaheen also came third in Badminton.
