DUBAI, Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower) has announced that it has submitted its proposal to host and organise the International District Cooling Conference – IDEA 2018 – for the third time, after hosting it in 2014 and 2016.
This took place during the attendance of Ahmed bin Shafar, CEO of Empower at the IDEA Board Meeting and Campus Energy Conference held recently in the United States.
The move highlights the importance of this global event, as well as the UAE’s initiatives in spreading the idea of sustainable and green development through various means including district cooling.
The conference will be an opportunity to shed light on district cooling projects by the industry leaders from around the world. By hosting this conference, Empower aims to support Dubai’s vision on future of energy efficiency, and exploring the development of innovative models for future services. The conference will act as a platform that brings the world together under the umbrella of district cooling.
“Dubai is witnessing significant development and tangible achievements, especially in environmental conservation, combatting climate change and innovation in energy efficiency. These have been employed to shape the future of the UAE, in line with sustainable development goals, the UAE Vision 2021 and the UAE National Agenda,” said Bin Shafar.
“Empower’s quest to host this event in Dubai highlights leading position of Dubai and the UAE as destination of organising and hosting international events. The conference will be global platform to highlight the UAE’s sustainability standards and infrastructure. The UAE was recently rated number one globally in 50 indices covering community and service sectors, according to the Global Competitiveness Index 2017-2018,” added Bin Shafar.
