ABU DHABI, Nasser bin Thani Al Hamli, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, stressed that the decision of H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Presidential Affairs and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, to establish specialist public prosecution and judicial departments in every Court of First Instance to hear about crimes committed against domestic workers, highlights the UAE’s respect for all types of workers.
The move also aims to ensure their rights and safeguard their dignity, in light of the country’s relevant laws, institutions and legislation that aim to maintain the rights of both parties in an employment relationship while achieving balance and transparency, in line with relevant international standards and agreements, he added.
He said that Sheikh Mansour’s decision will have a very positive impact on the contractual work relations between the owner and the domestic worker, in terms of establishing and strengthening the culture of respecting workers’ rights, which are guaranteed by the Federal Law issued by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan regarding domestic workers.
He clarified that the decision should ensure a big momentum to the domestic workers’ file, which is overseen by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, by applying a strategic vision that targets controlling and regulating all stages of the temporary contractual work cycle, in addition to executing a package of policies and programmes. This should make both parties aware of their rights and duties, which will contribute to establishing balanced and transparent working relations.
