BRUSSELS, The president of the European Institute for International Relations (IERI) has hailed the next week's visit by Pope Francis to the UAE as an international testimony to the prestigious status boasted by the UAE in promoting values of tolerance and interfaith dialogue.
Speaking to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), Inerio Seminatore, President and Founder of IERI, underlined the importance of the meetings to be co-held by the Pope and Grand Imam of Al Azhar, Dr Ahmed Al Tayeb, during their UAE visit, which the international official described as a milestone in interfaith relations.
He underscored the need for doubling efforts to promote fraternity between all world peoples, regardless of gender, race, color or creed.
Atilio Moro, member of the Centre of European in Brussels, also told WAM that the Pope's visit is aimed at fostering peaceful co-existence and encounter between followers of different religions, commending the role played by the UAE in establishing the principles of dialogue and understanding.
The message sent by Abu Dhabi through this visit is a significant and influential one and will pave the way for more effective dialogue between world peoples, Moro added.
