ABU DHABI, H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union,GWU, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation,FDF, highlighted the key role of the GWU in caring for Emirati women and training them to perform their role within their families and work.
In her statement, following her visit to the GWU’s headquarters, Sheikha Fatima stressed that the organisation has a key role in implementing strategies, organising programmes, and holding sessions and training workshops for women, with the aim of raising their awareness about their lives, especially in the areas of health, education, society and culture.
She added that the GWU has attained a larger role in caring for and supporting Emirati women, as they now occupy advanced scientific and managerial positions in the public and private sectors, after achieving gender balance and equal rights with men at work.
Sheikha Fatima praised the role of Noura Al Suwaidi, Director of the GWU, in leading the union and managing and monitoring the implementation of plans and programmes that have enable women to carry out their tasks. She also praised the work of the GWU, which has become a key institution in the community and is remarkable for its importance to women.
The “Mother of the UAE,” Sheikha Fatima, accompanied by Al Suwaidi, visited the union’s departments and sections, and viewed its various activities.
