Handball: Bahrain names 25-player squad for Asian Championship

Manama, Bahrain National Handball team will take part in the Asian Men's Championship, which will be held in Kuwait in January. Bahrain has been drawn in Group A table, along with Iceland and Iceland.

National coach Aron Kristjansson has announced named 25 players, ahead of the Asian qualifiers to the 20121 World Handball Cup, which will be held in Egypt.

The line-up includes Hussein Al-Sayyad (Al-Wehda Saudi), Ali Mirza ( Sharjah, Mirza), Mohammed Habib Madan (Ahli Shabab Dubai), Jassim Al-Salatna ( (Al-Khaleej (Saudi) Ali Eid (Al-Nasr � UAE), Mohammed Abdul Hussein, Hassan Shehab, Mahdi Saad, Mohammed Mirza, Bilal Basham, Mohammed Habib (Al-Najma Club), Sadiq Ali, Hassan Al-Samaheeji, Mohammed Abdul Redha, Hassan Madan, Mahmoud Hussein (Al-Ahli), Ahmed Al-Maqabai, Isa Khalaf, Qassim Al-Shuweikh, Qassim Qamber (Barbar Club), Ahmed Jalal, Abdulla Zeimour (Al-Shabab), Ahmed Hussein, Hassan Mirza (Al-Tadhamun) and Hussein Mahfoudh (Tubli).

Bahrain Handball Association (BHA) board member Ismail Baqer said that the training would start tomorrow, Monday, led by Assistant national coach Ahmed Mansour, adding that Aron Kristjansson would arrive on Wednesday.

Bahraini professional players will not take part in the initial phase of training until a date is set for them to join the national squad. Barbar players will also taking part in the Bahrain-UAE Super, which will take place on Friday.

Aron Kristjansson will lead the national squad in an external training by mid-December in Egypt. It will take on the Egyptian national team in two friendly matches. Bahrain will then play Iraq in two home friendly matches in January. Two other friendly matches will be held against South Korea in Bahrain before heading to Kuwait to take part in the Asian Championship. As for the Japanese it will not arrive in Bahrain for technical reasons.
