The Law Respect Culture Bureau at the General Directorate of Community Protection and Crime Prevention, the General Secretariat of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, organized two educational lectures, as part of its educational efforts to boost awareness of workers. 580 workers from private companies operating in the Western Region benefitted from the two lectures.
In the lectures, First Lieutenant Ali Hassan Al Hamadi from the Law Respect Culture Bureau explained “Workers’ rights and duties”. He noted that the laws and legislations in the country have been enacted to organize the legal rights and obligations of individuals in way that provides them with a safe life. “The law guarantees the rights and has imposed a set of commitments in return; that must be exercised within the limits of the law,” he said.
First Lieutenant Al Hamadi shed the light on the articles of the law that govern work relations, regarding wages and paid leaves, as well as other articles that guarantee workers’ rights and acquaint them with their obligations towards their employers. The lecturer also acquainted the attending workers with articles of other laws enforced in the UAE, which organize public life and provide security, especially for workers at the staff accommodation provided to them by their employers.
