KUALA LUMPUR, — More than 300 Malaysian expatriates from Dubai and Northern Emirates yesterday attended the Aidilfitri celebration hosted by the Malaysian Consulate General’s office based in Dubai.
In a statement here yesterday, the consulate said the event was one of the public diplomacy programmes organised by the Consulate to establish rapport with Malaysians overseas.
The event, co-hosted together with all government agencies in Dubai and Malaysian Association in the United Arab Emirates, was also attended together with the expatriates’ families at the MATRADE Hall in Dubai.
“The event gave an opportunity for Malaysians in Dubai and Northern Emiratesto assemble and celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri together during Syawal in Dubai,”it said.
Various Malaysian mouth-watering delicacies such as nasi lemak, mee goreng,roti canai and murtabak were served during the event.
“Those delicacies were prepared in the spirit of togetherness by Malaysiansand the Consulate Office,” it added.
The Aidilfitri sermon was delivered by Ustaz Norsam Abdul Rahman, vice consul of the Education Malaysia office to fellow Muslims at the main hall.
