DUBAI, The Ministerial Development Council has approved the school calendar for public and private schools that use the Ministry of Education’s curriculum, as well as private schools that use foreign curriculums, from 2018 to 2021.
According to the council’s decision, some flexibility can be granted, such as an increase or decrease of the number of term days of private schools that use foreign curriculums of under a week, after approval by specialist local education authorities.
The school calendar was created after an extensive study on the teaching process and how to meet teaching requirements, in line with the ministry’s vision to provide quality education and encourage students to benefit from their time at school, which will achieve the stability of the education system and guarantee effective teaching while considering the circumstances of families and the community.
The staff of public and private schools that use the Ministry of Education’s curriculum will begin their first trimester on 26th August, 2018, while students will start their term on 2nd September, 2018. The winter break for students will begin on 16th December, 2018, and end on 10th January, 2019, while the winter break for school staff will begin on 23rd December, 2018, and end on 3rd January, 2019.
The second trimester of the upcoming school year starts on 6th January, 2019, for the academic body and on 13th January, 2019, for students. The spring break for students is from 31st March to 11th April and for the academic body from 31st March to 4th April.
The academic body resumes the third trimester of the upcoming school year on 7th April while students resume attendance on 14th April and end on 4th July. The third trimester ends for the academic body on 11th July, 2019.
The winter break for students is from 16th December to 3rd January, 2019, while study resumes on 6th January. The spring break for students is from 31st March to 14th April, 2019, and the end of attendance for students is on 4th July.
