Manama, Al-Mabarrah Al-Khalifia (MKF) is participating for the first time in the Ironman 70.3 Middle East Championship, which is being hosted in the Kingdom of Bahrain for the 5th year in a row.
The championship, which will start on December 7, and is considered one of the most important sporting events regionally, enjoys the support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, in addition to His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Work and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports.
MKF's team consists of three students from the Rayaat programme, which includes Mohamed Abdulsalam, Isa Al Subaie and Mohamed Al Bastaki. The team has started its training preparations for the tournament, which includes the 1.9 km swim course, 90 km bike course and a 21.1km run course.
Commenting on the initiative, Her Highness Shaikha Zain bint Khalid Al Khalifa, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of Al-Mabarrah Al-Khalifia Foundation, stated: "We are proud of our students' participation in what is considered to be one of the most prominent sporting events in Bahrain and in the region, as it goes in line with our efforts to support Bahraini youth to reach their full potential in accomplishing outstanding achievements in all fields."
"We hope that our team members will achieve positive results in the different courses of the championship, especially given the team's advanced capabilities and commitment in training. We also wish them success in achieving high rankings in order to contribute towards elevating the Kingdom's name regionally and internationally" she added.
MKF wishes to thank the Bahrain Triathlon Association, represented by Dr. Shaikh Saqer Al Khalifa, Honorary President of the Federation, Mr. Abdulla Abdulsalam, and Vice President, Ms. May Al Haji for assisting the team in their training preparations. MKF is a non-profit foundation registered and licensed by the Ministry of Labour and Social Development in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Established in 2011, it aims to create a positive impact in the education field and empower Bahraini youth to reach their optimum potential by providing knowledge, skills, and expertise which will benefit them and the Kingdom as a whole.
