Mohammed bin Rashid receives editors in chief of local newspapers, media leaders

DUBAI, July 15th, 2013 (WAM) — UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum received today editors in chief of local newspaper, national media leaders, representatives of Arab and international news agencies, press and TV Channels, operating in the country.

The Ramadan evening, organised by the Dubai Government Media Office, was held at Mina A Salam Hotel, Dubai.

Sheikh Mohammed welcomed journalists and exchanged greetings on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.

Present in the meeting were H. H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai.

The Vice president, following Iftar meal, discussed with the journalists a number of national issues such as: development in the UAE, his vision for the future of national economy in particular and international economy in general.

”Our country in general and Dubai in particular, is moving steadily to attain more achievements, which would satisfy the citizens and secure a dignified life for them, stability and welfare” Sheikh Mohammed said.

In his reply to the questions of journalists, Sheikh Mohammed said that the Mohammed bin Rashid School of Government, which turned from a college that serves trainees in the field of management from the Dubai Government staff into an model college, where it attracts large numbers of Arab citizens in order to train them on principles of the government leadership.

” This is a source of pride for us since we have become a role model for the Arab world in various fields and we open up all doors for them to benefit from our successful experiences” adding ” This makes me very happy when I see the Emirati youth train their Arab counterparts, especially from Iraq, Libya and Yemen” He also stressed the importance of possessing persistence and confidence in the abilities and doubtless, since it kills innovation and causes frustration.

Sheikh Mohammed also spoke about the current Arab situation, stressing that Arab people in various Arab countries need better change in political, economic and social fields and what is going on in some Arab countries, is a natural result to political, economic and social pressures, in addition to lack of job opportunities, especially for the newly university graduates.

He added ” We wish all prosperity, stability and economic recovery for all brotherly Arab peoples so as to spread peace and prosperity in the Arab world since we are part of it” Among those who attended the meeting were H.H. Sheikh Majed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Saeed bin Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gargawi, Minister for Cabinet Affairs, Dubai Director of Protocol and Hospitality Khalifa Saeed Suleiman, Muna Ghanem Al Marri Director-General of Media Office of Dubai Government and Sheikh Walid al-Ibrahim, Chairman and CEO, MBC Group.

During the evening, Sheikh Mohammed was accompanied by Chairman and members of the UAE Journalists Association. He granted the Association AED five million on the advent of the holy month of Ramadan in order to support the journalists.

At the end of the evening, the journalists expressed their happiness to meet Sheikh Mohammed and benefit from his ideas and visions in all fields, especially ideas pertaining to the UAE, where they live safely, stressing that they are proud of the country’s achievements, freedom of mass media affirming that they have all kind of care and full rights, that reflected in delivering their media message.
