DUBAI, Al Qassimi Hospital Sharjah, one of the facilities run by the Ministry of Health and Prevention, MoHAP, organised the 5th Al Qassimi Ophthalmology International Conference, QOIC, at the Jumeirah Emirates Towers Dubai, aimed at discussing the latest scientific and visual surgical developments and integrating medical technology.
The conference also aims to enhance medical research, especially in the field of retinal diseases and diabetes, and conduct workshops in the vision correction domain under the supervision of international experts.
It is seeing the participation of more than 600 ophthalmologists from various countries of the world, and more than 200 nurses and technicians working in ophthalmology.
The conference is witnessing, for the first time in the UAE, cooperation with the International Society of Refractive Surgery, ISRS, of the American Ophthalmological Society.
In addition, the conference will also include 24 scientific sessions for discussing some 200 research papers, besides organising a number of theoretical lectures and workshops.
Dr. Youssif Al Serkal, Assistant Under-Secretary for the Ministry's Hospitals Sector, said, "The 5th Al Qassimi Ophthalmology International Conference is part of the MoHAP's keenness to support and develop the quality and efficiency of preventive and curative services provided in various medical specialities. This is in line with the MoHAP's strategy to provide outstanding health services to the UAE society, and adopt innovation standards in providing comprehensive healthcare that caters to the needs of the society."
Dr. Kalthoom Mohammed Al Belooshi, Director Of Hospitals Department, stated that the conference represents an opportunity to exchange experiences and learn about the latest scientific and surgical developments in the field of ophthalmology, in terms of using technologies in surgery and discussing the latest scientific research.
Dr. Fatima Al Amiri, Head of the Ophthalmology Department at Al Qassimi Hospital, said, "The conference is witnessing the attendance of some 100 ophthalmology experts to discuss scientific research papers in 24 scientific sessions and to review complex cases as well." This is in addition to organising workshops in the field of vision correction in the presence of international experts and consultants, including Swiss Professor, Farhad Hafeezi, and Professor, Mazen Sinjab.
