ABU DHABI, — H.H. Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, and Head of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, participated in the 2nd National Sports Day March that started today in front of the IPIC Arena Hall, in Abu Dhabi’s Zayed Sport City.
He expressed his appreciation to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, for their continuing support and patronage for sports development, and their interactions witnessed by the UAE community.
“We had the pleasure of practicing the sport of walking at the National Sports Day Walk, and to see the great crowds from all sectors of the community, athletes and students. We also saw the spontaneous expression from participants, and the extent of their love for the UAE and its leadership, which has provided and given all opportunities for our society to flourish and live in comfort,” he said.
The Abu Dhabi Sports Council aims to develop valuable initiatives that support the creation of an appropriate atmosphere and a rich environment for creativity in all sectors of society, he added.
Since its launch, the National Sports Day initiative has supported the success of programmes that strengthen national engagement, and has worked together with partners from the National Olympic Committee, the Abu Dhabi Education Council, the National Health Insurance Company (Daman), the Abu Dhabi Health Authority, as well as other authorities, unions and sporting clubs, to help achieve success for the activities of the 2nd National Sports Day, Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed further added.
He congratulated the wise leadership and the people of the UAE for the success achieved during the National Sports Day 2017, with its diverse sporting competitions. He also praised the high level of community participation that was witnessed by Abu Dhabi.
