SHARJAH, Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), said that Sharjah’s Eastern Region is witnessing a major boom in terms of infrastructure, service and development projects.
“This developmental drive is led by improvements to the road networks, an aspect which has been given much attention by H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah,” he added.
Al Owais stressed that the new project is not only a road but an integrated package of projects aimed at promoting the Eastern Region at various economic, tourism, social and cultural levels. It is a boom in investment in infrastructure in the emirate, and represents most important project in the region that reflects the wise vision of the His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah.
Al Owais highlighted the AED120 million ‘Khorfakkan Lakes’ project as part of the project package that plays a great role in “triggering the tourism movement in the region,” stressing that the new road and the accompanying projects are a pivotal and central event in the history of the region.
Al Owais explained that the new route reduces travel time to 45 minutes instead of one hour and a half in normal times and two hours at peak times.
