Abu Dhabi: The General Secretariat of the Khalifa Award for Education kicked off today the 2013/2012 edition of the Award under the slogan ‘ ‘Distinguish Yourself, You deserve honour’.
Announcing the launch of the sixth edition of the award at a press conference held at Rotana Beach Hotel in Abu Dhabi, Secretary General of the Award Amal Abdulkadir Afifi said that the Award achieved advanced levels in its previous editions honouring individuals and institutions both at home and abroad.
The current edition of the award will accept entries from educators from UAE and the Arab world in 11 categories which include Public Education, Higher Education within the UAE and Arab World, Special Needs, Creative knowledge networks, New media and education within the UAE and the Arab World, Education and the sustainable environment, Education and community service, Educational Research within the UAE and the Arab world, Projects and Innovative Educational Programmes within the UAE and the Arab world, Educational authoring for children within the Arab world and Written work based on scientific methodology about the Patron of the Award His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Khalifa Award for Education, named after His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, was established in 2007 by the Decree No (6) to replace the Khalifa Award for Teachers.
The Award aims to advance the standards of national and regional education sector locally and in the Arab world by honouring and recognising the distinguished efforts and creativity of educators in the field of teaching and special education.
