U.A.E. Permanent Representative to UN, Secretary-General of UN for Humanitarian Affairs discuss humanitarian issues

WAM GENEVA, 9th April, 2014 (WAM) — Ambassador Obaid Salem Saeed Al Zaabi, U.A.E. Permanent Representative to the United Nations and International Organisations in Geneva, and Dr. Abdullah Matouq Al-Matouk, the Secretary-General of the United Nations for Humanitarian Affairs, have discussed humanitarian issues, especially the situation in Syria.

During the meeting, which was held at the headquarters of the United Nations in Geneva, Dr. Al-Matouk extended thanks to the U.A.E. for its generous support provided to different humanitarian programmes in Syria, where it has fulfilled all its commitments made at the International Donors Conference to support the humanitarian situation in Syria, held recently in Kuwait.

Dr. Al-Matouq, who serves as adviser to the Emiri Court in Kuwait, expressed his hope that the U.A.E. continues its great and diverse humanitarian activities in Syria.

For his part, Al Zaabi extended his appreciation for the hard work done by the State of Kuwait in the humanitarian field, especially with regard to the situation in Syria, pledging the continuation of the U.A.E.’s provision of financial and logistical support to alleviate the human suffering of the Syrian people.
