UAE Society of Engineers announces final call to apply for Excellence and Creative Engineering Award

DUBAI, The UAE Society of Engineers has announced that 14th October is the final day to submit applications for the Excellence and Creative Engineering Award in its inaugural cycle, as nominations for the Award were opened on 16th May 2022 through the Award’s website

The Award which was launched last March aims to reward the exceptional work and results of the pioneers of the engineering domain, in the face of an ever-increasing competitive market. It also targets to spread and encourage a culture of innovation and creativity in all engineering projects and emphasise the significance of national engineering work in addition to enhance growth, creativity, and leadership skills.

 

According to the organisers, the Award witnessed vast number of nominations from individuals and institutions for its categories where the participations include governmental and private organisations, as well as numerous individuals and students from universities across the nation.

 

In his comment on the significant participation, President of the Society of Engineers, Abdulla Yousef Al Ali, said, “We are pleased with the significant level of participation in the inaugural cycle of the Award which reflects the development of the engineering sector in the UAE. The Excellence and Creative Engineering Award fits into the UAE Vision 2021, which regards innovation a key pillar to achieve a knowledge-based, diversified and flexible economy led by skilled UAE competencies, and reinforced by the best experiences to ensure the sustainable prosperity of the country that keeps up with the ongoing development in the engineering sector by adopting and putting into practice innovative creative projects and ideas. This Award also aligns with the UAE Society of Engineers’ ambition to highlight the latest developments and innovative models, support and encourage engineering creativity and innovation, and carry out its strategic plan to meet the sector’s future challenges while enhancing the engineering skills and offering engineering consultancy to both public and private sector organisations.”

 

“The ‘Outstanding Student Award’ targets university students in engineering faculties of all disciplines in an effort to support excellence and enhance a spirit of competition and innovation among students. This aims to support their knowledge, broaden their perspectives, encourage them to study and continue research to have graduates with scientific backgrounds who competently cope with the quick advancement of technology worldwide,” said Al Ali.

 

Al Ali added, “The Award seeks to commend those most deserving for their ingenuity and hard work, distinguishing them from their competitors and proving them worthy of recognition.”

 

Al Ali emphasised that the Excellence and Creative Engineering Award in its first cycle is being launched from the United Arab Emirates, and there are plans to broaden its presence to other nations worldwide.

 

The Award includes two categories, namely ‘Institution’ and ‘Individuals’. The ‘Institution’ Category targets engineering offices, institutions, companies and departments. It encompasses 2 Awards: The ‘Pioneering Engineering Project’ which is dedicated to honouring the best outstanding engineering project in any field of engineering, the ‘Corporates Awards’ which also includes ‘Best Engineering Services or Consultancy Company’ and the ‘Best Construction Company’ in addition to the ‘Best Industrial Company / Corporation’.

 

The “Individuals” category which attracts creative individuals includes ‘Leading Personnel Award’, given to a leading Emirati figure in supporting engineering work in the country in addition to the ‘Outstanding Engineer Award’ granted to distinguished engineers who have used innovative methods and smart techniques in the projects that was implemented and have highlighted the positive impact of their contributions in the engineering field. The third Award within this category is the ‘Future Engineer Award’ which is given to young Emirates engineers who have distinguished themselves over their peers in their respective field and contributed to advancing innovation, by designing and implementing pioneering engineering projects that have had a distinct impact and yield. Fourthly, the ‘Outstanding Student Award’, is given to the best outstanding student in an engineering college in order to raise the spirit of competition and innovation between students and the new generation of engineers and their ability to provide innovative solutions in the engineering field.

 

The first three winners of each of the Awards in the ‘Institution’ category will receive a certificate and the Award medal. As for the ‘Individuals’ category, the winner of the ‘Leading Personnel Award’ will be honoured by a certificate and the Award medal. Moreover, the first three winners of each of the ‘Outstanding Engineer Award’, ‘Future Engineer Award’ and ‘Outstanding Student Award’ will receive a financial reward, in addition to the Award medal and certificate.
