RTA inks MoU with Zhong Tang Sky Railway Group to explore developing suspended transport network

DUBAI, As part of its endeavours to come up with innovative solutions for developing a futuristic suspended transport network in Dubai, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Zhong Tang Sky Railway Group, a leading company in the suspended railways.

Abdul Mohsen Ibrahim Younes, CEO of Rail Agency, signed the MoU on behalf of RTA, and Tang Tong, Chairman of Zhong Tang Sky Train, signed on behalf of the Group.

Attendees included Jaber Al Bahandi, Chairman of Centurion Company (The UAE representative of Zhong Tang Sky Railway Group) and Tariq Al Bahandi, Head of Development at Centurion.

“The signing of this MoU is part of RTA’s ongoing efforts to increase public transportation trips to 26 percent by 2030. Realising this objective requires developing advanced futuristic transport systems and improving the sustainable transport network in Dubai to encourage people and visitors to use public transport,” said Abdul Mohsen Ibrahim Younes.

“RTA is aligning its efforts with the national agenda to nurture a sustainable environment in terms of air quality and reliance on clean energy. The ultimate objective is to rank Dubai as the best place for living and business, a destination for visitors, and the smartest and happiest city in the world,” added Younes.

“RTA is signing MoUs with a host of specialist companies in the development of suspended transport systems to identify the technologies used in this sort of mass transit means. We will be able to screen and obtain the best technologies and select the best systems for implementation in Dubai,” he noted.

The use of this type of transport in Dubai aims to accelerate the mobility of people, provide affordable mobility solutions, encourage community members to use them, and curb traffic congestion.

RTA is seeking to Consolidate the integration among mass transit means towards realising its vision to become ‘The world leader in seamless & sustainable mobility’. It also contributes to realising the Dubai Self-Driving Transport Strategy aimed to convert 25 percent of the total mobility journeys in Dubai into self-driving transport by 2030.

Dubai Municipality, Brand Dubai launch community park design initiative

DUBAI, Brand Dubai, the creative arm of the Government of Dubai Media Office, in cooperation with Dubai Municipality, has launched an initiative that invites the Emirati creative community to provide innovative designs for various elements of public parks as well as concepts for unique community events and activities.

The initiative seeks to promote community participation in the development of more engaging and interactive parks and encourage awareness about sustainable urban design. Participants are invited to create designs that can integrate environmentally friendly materials and innovative modern building methods to revitalise parks and help them attract more visitors.

The initiative, which targets urban designers and architects, interior designers, event organisers and university students, is open for participation only to UAE nationals.

The launch of the initiative follows the announcement of Brand Dubai and Dubai Municipality’s partnership to redesign public parks across the emirate to make them more engaging to visitors as creative, social and natural spaces. The joint project falls within the framework of the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, that lays out a comprehensive future map for sustainable urban development with the aim of making Dubai the world’s best city to live.

Assem Abdulrazzak, Planning Manager of Dubai Municipality, said: “This new initiative reflects Dubai Municipality’s belief in the importance of tapping the creative energies of youth and promoting the vision of the Dubai leadership to enhance the wellbeing and happiness of the community. This innovative initiative aims to involve creative individuals in community planning and urban development, in addition to raising awareness about sustainable design principles and generating designs that can promote a deeper harmony between urban facilities and the natural environment.” ”Dubai Municipality is seeking to enhance all its parks and other community facilities to ensure they meet the requirements of visitors of all segments of society. Ultimately, the initiative is aimed at engendering a sense of ownership in the community for the development of Dubai’s parks,” he added.

The inputs from the community will be used in the redevelopment of select parks in Dubai. They can include new designs for urban seating, children’s playgrounds, jogging tracks, landscaping and canopies or any other element or aspect of the park as well as suggestions for community events or activities.

OPEC daily basket price stood at $70.21 a barrel Friday

VIENNA, The price of OPEC basket of thirteen crudes stood at $70.21 a barrel on Friday, 4th June, compared with $69.89 the previous day, according to OPEC Secretariat calculations.

The OPEC Reference Basket of Crudes (ORB) is made up of the following: Saharan Blend (Algeria), Girassol (Angola), Djeno (Congo), Zafiro (Equatorial Guinea), Rabi Light (Gabon), Iran Heavy (Iran), Basra Light (Iraq), Kuwait Export (Kuwait), Es Sider (Libya), Bonny Light (Nigeria), Arab Light (Saudi Arabia), Murban (UAE) and Merey (Venezuela).

AED1.68 bn financial market liquidity on Monday

ABU DHABI, UAE financial markets extended gains on continued upbeat sentiments Monday following high sales declared by some blue chips. Over AED1.68 bn transactions were struck today, pushing the Abu Dhabi main share index 0.34 percent up to 6,646, from 6623 pts, yesterday, with the Dubai main index following suit, edging up 0.64 pct to 2,839 from 2,820 pts.

ADX-listed International Holding Company continued its upward streak to AED96.75. Al Dar Properties increased to AED3.76; ADNOC Distribution to AED4.36; and Etisalat to AED22.

On Dubai Financial Market, Emaar Properties significantly climbed to AED4.11 following impressive sales in first five months of the year which resulted in AED110 million in new transactions.

A total of 7,059 deals were conducted over 328 mn shares at both bourses.
