بدأ الرئيس الصيني “شي جين بينغ” يوم الاثنين جولة تفقدية في محافظة تشينغهاي شمال غرب الصين، وهو يشغل كذلك منصب الأمين العام للجنة المركزية للحزب الشيوعي الصيني.

أجرى الرئيس “شي” في شينينغ، عاصمة المحافظة، زيارة لشركة تنتج السجاد وتساءل عن كيفية استفادة الشركة من مزايا الموارد المحلية واستخدام مفاهيم جديدة في التصميم لتعزيز القدرة التنافسية لمنتجاتها وتوفير الوظائف وزيادة دخل السكان المحليين.

DEWA’s Youth Council organises virtual panel as part of the Free Electrons Cycle 5

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA)’s Youth Council organised a discussion panel called ‘Youth power and the future of energy.’ The panel highlighted the capabilities of youth to establish energy start-ups, as part of the virtual bootcamp of the Free Electrons Cycle 5 that DEWA has organised for the first time in Dubai. The Free Electrons is a world-class accelerator that encourages start-ups to create innovative solutions in the energy sector. Some 126 representatives of utilities and energy start-ups attended the panel discussion from 19 countries in addition to some DEWA employees.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, said that DEWA is one of the prominent members of the Free Electrons alliance. It promotes international cooperation between utilities and energy start-ups to encourage successful solutions for current and future challenges and meet future energy demands worldwide. DEWA supports the wise leadership’s vision to engage youth in sustainable development, build partnerships and create opportunities that achieve public benefit. This supports the UAE and Dubai’s position as a platform for creativity and incubator for innovators as well as one of the most prepared nations for the future worldwide.

6 startups partner with corporates through Dubai Startup Hub’s Market Access 2021

DUBAI, Dubai Startup Hub, an initiative of Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, has announced the successful conclusion of Market Access 2021, which saw 3 leading corporates joining forces with 6 tech startups that were selected for new pilot projects.

Following three virtual matchmaking sessions this year, corporate members – Dubai Chamber, DHL and Emirates NBD – invited 6 startups founders to explore collaboration opportunities. Dubai Chamber will collaborate with ZPOOL, Value Grid, Digital Falcon; DHL selected Ottogee; and ENBD chose IN-D-AI and Openturf.

The startups were selected from a pool of 13 shortlisted candidates that pitched business concepts and solutions addressing existing challenges for corporate members related to procurement opportunities.

All finalists will be granted access to Dubai Startup Hub’s Scale Up Dubai programme, which offers additional support for startups in growing their businesses in Dubai market, as well as in the countries of Dubai Chamber’s presence through the network of 11 international offices.

More than 50 percent of participating startups in Market Access cycles thus far have come from overseas, where many of them do not have such advanced incubation ecosystem as in Dubai. In addition, 73 percent of participants from the last cycle have not been exposed to any professional accelerator or incubator.

Natalia Sycheva, Senior Manager of Entrepreneurship and Special Projects at Dubai Chamber, noted that the 2021 cycle of Market Access identified a growing trend among corporates that are embracing new technologies as they expand their digital presence. She added that the selected startups offer cutting-edge solutions that address existing challenges faced by corporates, as well as the changing needs of their respective customers.

“Market Access provides an ideal platform to explore collaboration opportunities between leading corporates in the UAE and innovative startups from around the world. Yet, it is only the starting point, and startups that have gone through the programme are continuing their growth journey through Scale Up Dubai, which offers them access to tailored support, partnership opportunities and mentorship, helping them take their businesses to the next level,” Sycheva explained.

Dubai’s weeklong real estate transactions valued at AED10.7 billion

DUBAI, Dubai Land Department (DLD) recorded a total of 2,069 real estate and properties transactions with a gross value of 10.7 billion during the week ending 10 June 2021.

According to the DLD weekly report, 219 plots were sold for AED 1.46 billion, 1,418 apartments and villas were sold for AED 2.81 billion.

The top three transactions were a land in Palm Jumeirah sold for AED 330 million, followed by a land that was sold for AED 71.22 million in Al Safouh Second, and a land sold for AED 50 million in the Burj Khalifa area in third place.

Al Hebiah Fourth recorded the most transactions for this week by 101 sales transactions worth AED 438.82 million, followed by Hadaeq Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid with 18 sales transactions worth AED 212.58 million, and Al Hebiah Third with 15 sales transactions worth AED 34 million in third place.

The top three transfers for apartments and villas were a villa was sold for AED 341 million in Dubai Investment Park First, an apartment was second in the list sold for AED 284 million in Marsa Dubai, and thirdly it was an apartment sold for AED 283 million in Al Merkadh.

The sum of the amount of mortgaged properties for the week was 6 billion, with the highest being a land in Al Warsan Second, mortgaged for AED 4.7 billion.

51 properties were granted between first-degree relatives worth AED 771 million.

AASTS honoured for distinctive contribution to innovation in maritime education

DUBAI, The Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport Branch in Sharjah (AASTS) was presented with an award for its “Distinctive Contribution to Innovation in Maritime Education” at the 14th edition of the Shiptek International Awards 2021, held in Dubai, on 7th June, 2021.

The award was received by Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar Ismail Farag, President of the AASTS, in the presence of delegates from the Academy.

The Shiptek International Maritime Awards is one of the most prestigious accolades in the maritime, offshore and oil and gas industries. The 14th edition saw the participation of key industry players who have contributed significantly to the growth of the sector in the UAE and the Middle East.

With its numerous unique academic offerings and its mission of shaping the young minds of the nation, AASTS has played a vital role in reinforcing maritime education and training in the Middle East. The academy has been a flagbearer in terms of infusing Emirati talent into the workforce, fulfilling the goals of the wise leadership of the nation and enhancing the UAE’s status as a leading maritime hub worldwide.

Also, AASTS has been spearheading the women empowerment movement in the sector by promoting gender equity in the classroom. With female students accounting for more than 43 per cent of the total, the academy has the highest percentage of females among maritime academies in the Middle East and North Africa.
