Ajman celebrates the world’s Greatest Show

AJMAN, The emirate of Ajman participated in celebrating the launch of Expo 2020 by broadcasting the official opening ceremony live on big screens located at the Ajman Heritage District, with fireworks launched in sync with the kick-off of the world’s greatest show in Dubai.

The official opening ceremony was also streamed live from the Ajman Corniche area.

The emirate of Ajman, through its governmental pavilion, is participating in this global event that includes more than 192 countries, all vying for showcasing the latest innovations and a wide array of cultures and arts to enrich the quality of the exhibition.

CBUAE issues commemorative silver coins with Expo 2020 Dubai official mascots

ABU DHABI, The Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) has announced the issuance of silver coins that feature Expo 2020’s official mascots, the second commemorative coin produced to mark this global event.

The first gold and silver commemorative coins were issued on the occasion of the UAE hosting Expo 2020.

The coins highlight the great importance of this much-awaited event and the UAE’s considerable efforts to make it a success.

The CBUAE will issue 2020 silver coins, each weighing 40 grams. The front face of the coin will feature Expo 2020’s mascots and Dubai’s most prominent landmark. The back side of the coin will feature the nominal value, surrounded by the name of the UAE in both Arabic and English. All issued commemorative coins will be available for sale via the Expo 2020 official stores as well as the New Zealand Mint’s website. They will be offered for sale at a price of USD 180 (AED 662). The coins will not be available for sale at the Central Bank Headquarters and Branches.

Expo 2020 will take place from October 1, 2021 until March 31, 2022. The event is expected to welcome 191 participating nations and millions of visitors from across the world.

Emirates Post launches five new services at Seamless

DUBAI, Emirates Post, the official postal operator and leading express provider in the UAE, has launched five new services to its wide business services portfolio during the 2021 Seamless Middle East held at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

The company’s new services aim to enhance customer experience, improve efficiency, offer more flexible pick-up and drop-off options, and faster delivery services.

The new addition includes new service points and parcel lockers. Through which, customers will have more flexible channels as to the last mile delivery options. The parcel lockers will be available at post offices and selected petrol stations, while the service points will be at petrol stations and partner locations, adding further time and place simplicity and convenience to the customer experience.

In line with its commitment to provide quality logistics and supply chain services, Emirates Post is also adding temperature-controlled vehicles for its cold chain solutions. This new domestic delivery solution is particularly important to perishable goods such as food, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics.

Further, the new fulfilment centre in Dubai South has enhanced its offered solutions for e-commerce customers. The centre offers warehousing, packaging, delivery and other value-added services.

Keeping with its commitment to provide seamless and efficient delivery services, Emirates Post offers the same day express service for shipments picked up before 12 noon. This service aims to target domestic deliveries particularly the e-commerce sector where the need for speed is a priority.

Commenting on the launch of the new services, Peter Somers, CEO of Emirates Post, said: “We will continue to offer our unparallel services, diversified products and solutions, while maintaining cost efficiency and driving profitability.”

Seamless Middle East is a conference and exhibition that focuses on the payments, fintech, banking, retail, e-commerce, and cards and identity sectors. Now in its 21st year, the event has featured some of the biggest industry names in the Middle East and beyond.

Expo 2020 Dubai welcomes visitors

DUBAI, Expo 2020 Dubai today welcomed visitors from across the world to the largest global gathering that will feature architectural marvels and a long list of technological innovations showcasing the ingenuity of more than 190 countries.

The first World Expo in the Middle East is now underway, with the gates having opened to the public. Visitors started arriving this morning at the expo site for the first of 182 days of educational discoveries, cultural encounters and immersive experiences under the theme “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future”.

Thursday night saw the grand opening ceremony of the world’s greatest show in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia (MEASA) region, with 192 participating nations, each with their dedicated pavilion.

The Opening Ceremony drew inspiration from the Expo 2020 Dubai theme, “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future”. It invited the audience on an exciting journey, embracing the sub-themes of the global event – Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability – to highlight deep-rooted Emirati values and the vision and goals of Expo 2020 Dubai. It served as the perfect welcome for the 192 countries participating in this extraordinary mega-event.

Reem Al Hashemy, Minister of State for International Cooperation and Director-General of Expo 2020 Dubai, said, ”Expo 2020 Dubai provides us with an ideal opportunity to present the UAE’s authentic Emirati heritage, values and ancient traditions.” She added that during 182 days, the UAE would utilise the global event to highlight its role in the international scene.

Secretary-General of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), Dimitri S. Kerkentzes, said, “The world is coming together for the first time since the pandemic began, to connect, to exchange and to learn on this extraordinary global stage. The time has now come to open Expo 2020 Dubai, an Expo that marks the era, that plays a defining role in the global recovery, and that contributes to a better future.”

“For tens of millions of people, Expo 2020 Dubai is a tremendous occasion to reconnect with the whole world, to truly engage with critical questions of universal importance and to showcase innovative and cutting-edge solutions to our global problems. Expo 2020 Dubai will be a transformational event, creating new partnerships and generating deep and meaningful connections to make our world better.”

Somaya Al Ali, Director of Local Government Relations at Expo, expressed the UAE’s profound pride to host such a high-profile international show for the first time in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia (MEASA) region.

She told the Emirates News Agency (WAM) that the international community’s confidence in the UAE is excellent. “Today we host delegations from more than 192 countries and visitors from around the world for six months under the umbrella of ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future.'”

“We are proud of our important role as national cadres in this prominent global event,” she added.

Hind Alboom, Manager of Participant Content Design and Development, Director-General’s Office at Expo 2020 Dubai, said the UAE welcomes the world for working together for the benefit of humanity.

She added that Expo 2020 had revealed the six-month calendar for its “Programme for People and Planet”, harnessing the connecting powers of World Expos, nations around the world and the UAE to catalyse a legacy of transformative change. Designed with and for the global community, the Programme for People and Planet addresses the most critical challenges and opportunities we face as a world today.

“Through 10 Theme Weeks and 18 International Days, participants and Expo 2020 visitors will explore solutions to fundamental global issues – ranging from fighting climate change and biodiversity loss and making human habitats more sustainable to bridging the digital divide and ensuring equal access to education and healthcare. Featuring global leaders and game-changers, with TED-style talks, exhibitions, forums and workshops, each activation forms a piece of a larger puzzle that participants will endeavour to collectively solve at Expo 2020, inviting visitors to join the UAE to build bridges, thrive together and live in balance as we create opportunity for all,” she explained.

“There will be more than 220 events involved, from large forums and public conventions to seminars and workshops. The World Majilis, Expo 2020’s signature platform for connecting minds, will play a prominent role, with 53 sessions set to educate and inspire,” she added.

From today until 31st March, 2022, Expo 2020 Dubai will highlight music, architecture, technology and culture from around the globe as part of its packed events calendar. The event will provide all attendees with the opportunity to celebrate the history and achievements of other countries. It will also bring together the world’s brightest minds through its Programme for People and Planet, which gives visitors of all ages and backgrounds the opportunity to enjoy and make the most of this exceptional event.

Expo 2020 Dubai will invite everyone to join in making a new world as visitors reconnect through a six-month celebration of creativity, innovation, human progress and culture.

Nahyan bin Mubarak officially opens Expo 2020 Dubai’s Sustainability Portal

DUBAI, As Expo 2020 Dubai marks its first full day, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence and Coexistence and Commissioner General of Expo 2020 Dubai, has officially opened the site’s Sustainability Portal in a special ceremony.

Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak said: “As Expo 2020 Dubai welcomes the world for the first time, it is my pleasure to officially open the doors of the Sustainability Portal.

“After a turbulent year for mankind, we are excited to be finally able to reveal the first World Expo ever to be held in the Arab world. As we stand at the gateway to a new start, now is the perfect time for the world to reassess where we are headed and determine what is important, and Expo 2020 is the perfect catalyst for this conversation over the next six months.

“We are looking forward to welcoming the millions of visitors who will pass through these portals and will witness the broad range of exciting insights and creative innovations developed by the 192 Country Pavilions.”

The Expo Entry Portals, designed by celebrated London-based architect Asif Khan, provide the stunning first touchpoints for millions of visitors to Expo 2020, with one standing at each of the three Thematic Districts (Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability).

Expo 2020 is the biggest cultural gathering in the world, presenting a visually striking and emotionally-inspiring 182 days, as more than 200 participants – including 192 nations, plus multilateral organisations, businesses and educational institutions, as well as millions of visitors – create the largest and most diverse World Expo ever.

Expo 2020 Dubai will shape coming era in history of civilisation: Saqr Ghobash

DUBAI, Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), emphasised that in implementing the directives and vision of its leadership, the UAE represents a unique development model and a global hub for achievements, as the stunning opening of the Expo 2020 Dubai has shown.

With its ancient history, the UAE has proved to the world through its cultural renaissance and achievements that it seeks to inspire future generations to unleash creativity and innovations that will shape the journey of human progress during the next five decades, he stated.

The FNC Speaker said, “On behalf of the FNC members and myself, I congratulate the UAE’s wise leadership and people on the honourable and big opening of Expo 2020 Dubai, which is deemed one of the largest expos worldwide. It has provided an opportunity for the global community to come up with innovative solutions, achieve sustainability, mobility and economic growth, and shape the future in the history of human civilisation.”

He indicated that the UAE welcomes the world through Expo 2020 Dubai and through the participation of more than 190 countries representing the continents to be acquainted with the UAE’s cultural journey and celebrate the country’s Golden Jubilee that mirrors a journey of 50 years of achievements and giving.
