Pakistan Pavilion, a reflection of ‘cultural coexistance’: President

DUBAI, President Dr. Arif Alvi of Pakistan on Saturday said that his country is a beautiful mix of different cultures, ethnicities and civilisations, highlighting the need for projecting its positive image as a peaceful country.

In an interaction with media personnel after the formal inauguration of the Pakistan Pavilion at the Dubai Expo 2020, President Alvi said the country was innovating a future of immense growth opportunities.

Themed as ‘Hidden Treasure’, the Pakistani President said that the Pavilion was the true depiction of cultural coexistence and gave the ‘best flavour of Pakistan’ for the outside world, lauding the work of artists who turned the pavilion into a mega piece of art.

The president visited different sections of the Pakistan Pavilion and appreciated the creative display of the pavilion showcasing the unexplored riches of the country. He interacted with artists Rashid Rana and Nisar Malik, and curator Noor Jahan Bilgrami for the beautiful artistic melange of culture, history, and craft.

Pakistan and the UAE have enjoyed close fraternal relations, rooted deep in common faith, shared history, and cultural affinities. The UAE is Pakistan’s largest trading partner in the Middle East and a major source of investments.

Prince Albert II of Monaco congratulates UAE on successful opening of Expo 2020

DUBAI, The Monaco Pavilion’s mini version in the European Principality has been officially inaugurated, with His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco and Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, and Director General, Expo 2020 Dubai, marking the occasion together.

In a virtual conversation conducted via interactive booths – one in the Monaco Pavilion, Expo 2020 Dubai, and the other at the Monaco ‘Mini’ Pavilion in Port Hercules – HSH Prince Albert II congratulated Al Hashemy on the successful Opening Ceremony of Expo 2020 and completion of its first week. She expressed her gratitude for Monaco and all participating countries for their commitment to the World Expo, highlighting the need for collaboration in order to make progress on urgent priorities such as sustainability.

The mini pavilion offers augmented reality headsets that allow visitors in Monaco to experience all areas of their country’s a gem-like, polygonal pavilion – inspired by the ‘Rock of Monaco’ – in Dubai.

Samira Jawhar, Director, Monaco Pavilion, Expo 2020 Dubai, explained that the pavilion at Expo reflects an important environmental message, with solar panels on its exterior powering the building throughout the six-month mega-event. Spanning an area of 1,700sqm and extending to a height of 12m, the pavilion provides a comprehensive introduction to the city of Monaco, including its tourism and business opportunities.

It has welcomed visitors of different ages and nationalities since opening, Jawhar said, with visitors particularly interested in Monaco’s research and technology, as well as its environment and architectural initiatives.

Spain Pavilion brings medieval music to Expo 2020 Dubai with two live performances

DUBAI, The Spain Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai is bringing the unique and distinctive sounds of the country’s medieval music to the event, performed by Artefactum, one of the most distinguished ensembles of early Spanish music.

There will be two performances open to the public: one on Wednesday, 13th October, at the Sun Stage at 18:00, and the other on Thursday, 14th October, at the Terra Auditorium at 18:30.

Through a dramatic stage concept, and using ancient instruments that help portray the intrinsic beauty of original compositions, Artefactum takes audiences on a journey through the medieval age: we pass noisy taverns, feel the reclusion of the monasteries, walk country roads and market streets – all courtesy of the musical exploration that unfolds.

The medieval music performances are among the many events lined up by the Spain Pavilion, which celebrates smart creativity – uniting people around sustainable projects in the fields of science, technology, production, education and art.

Turkmen President celebrates country’s National Day at Expo 2020 Dubai

DUBAI, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, President of Turkmenistan, along with his delegation, toured his country’s pavilion, as well as the UAE pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai.

During his visit to the Turkmen pavilion, the flag of his country was raised in the Al Wasl Plaza, while its national anthem was played to celebrate Turkmenistan’s National Day.

Senior officials also delivered speeches on the occasion.

Visitors to the Turkmenistan pavilion, located in the Mobility District, are greeted by a majestic fountain sculpture featuring five Akhal-Teke horses at the entrance.

The Turkmen pavilion is showcasing the country historic and cultural heritage and modern industrial achievements, in addition to its developmental priorities and international relations.

National and honour days at Expo 2020 Dubai are moments to celebrate each of Expo’s 200-plus international participants, shining a light on their culture and achievements and showcasing their pavilions and programming.

October 21 confirmed as public sector holiday for Prophet’s birthday

DUBAI, The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources has announced that Thursday, 21st October, will be a public holiday for federal government employees to mark the birthday of the Prophet Mohammed.

A circular issued by the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources today added that work will resume on Sunday, 24th October.

The Authority congratulated President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan; His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai; His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Their Highnesses the Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates, as well as the people of the UAE and the Arab and Islamic nations on this occasion.

Mansour bin Zayed directs to display Expo 2020 Dubai logo at Emirates International Endurance Village

ABU DHABI, H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Presidential Affairs, and Chairman of the Emirates International Endurance Village, directed the Village’s management to put up the Expo 2020 Dubai logo across the village and its races and activities, as part of the current season, which kicks off on 27th November with the National Day Cup.

This comes to promote the global event’s position, and coincides with the UAE’s Golden Jubilee, and showcases Expo 2020 Dubai’s stature and the UAE’s success in organising it.

This season, the Village will host 11 races.

Musallam Al Ameri, Director-General of the Emirates International Endurance Village, expressed his appreciation of the directives of Sheikh Mansour and noted that they will begin implementing them immediately.

Al Ameri said, “Decorating the village with the Expo 2020 Dubai logo represents a new and qualitative addition to its current season.”
