Dubai Otology Conference discusses critical ear, head and neck diseases and disorders

DUBAI, The 9th edition of the Dubai Otology, Neurotology and Skull Base Surgery Conference and Exhibition – Dubai Otology ended today at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

The three-day conference, which exclusively focused on the most critical ear, head and neck diseases and disorders, was held as a physical event with a virtual component, benefitting the participants to expand their networks and connect with field specialists worldwide.

On the final day of the event, experts and specialists attending the conference addressed several important scientific topics related to Otology, such as Cholesteatoma, Mastoidectomy, Tympanoplasty, Cochlear Implant, Comprehensive Vestibular Rehabilitation, EBM in Otology, Facial Nerve, Ossiculoplasty; Stapes Surgery, Skull Base Surgery, Surgical Education in Otology, Temporal Bone – Radiology Master Class, and Tinnitus and Hyperacusis.

Running parallel to the conference was the Dubai Otology exhibition, which offered 30 local and international top brands in Otology, Neurotology and Skull Base Surgery industry the much-needed platform to showcase their breakthrough advanced tools and cutting-edge technologies. It also allowed them to interact and collaborate with experts and specialists in the Otology industry.

Over the last three days, Dubai Otology attracted over 700 visitors and participants from the region and the world and witnessed 47 expert speakers from over 26 countries, who offered their valuable insights and shared the latest research in Otology, Neurotology and Skull Base Surgery. In addition, to benefit specialists and clinical experts attending the conference, Dubai Otology featured 63 scientific sessions addressing the most challenging topics facing industry experts and practitioners.

Furthermore, a hands-on cadaveric workshop with limited seats took place on the 8th and 9th October, 2021, at the Sharjah Surgical Institute of the Sharjah University, where participants were taken through Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS) and Rhinoplasty and Temporal Bone Dissection Course.

The Dubai Otology Conference and Exhibition is held annually by INDEX Conferences and Exhibitions – a member of INDEX Holding. It is supported by several regional and international bodies such as UIBC, Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery and Communication Disorder Society, Sultanate Oman, and the Pakistan Society of Otorhinolaryngology.

Brand Dubai, RTA renew partnership to provide new creative experiences in public spaces

DUBAI, Brand Dubai, the creative arm of the Government of Dubai Media Office and Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) have announced the renewal of a partnership to launch joint initiatives to provide the community with new creative experiences in Dubai’s public spaces.

The announcement was made during a meeting held at the Government of Dubai Media Office (GDMO) between Mattar Mohammed Al Tayer, Director General, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), and Mona Al Marri, Director General of GDMO. As part of the new partnership, the two organisations will work closely with each other to launch projects that will consolidate efforts to realise Dubai’s vision to transform itself into an open-air museum.

A fresh series of initiatives to be implemented by Brand Dubai and RTA will see them working with local and international artists to enrich Dubai’s public environment and create new connections with the public through art and other forms of creative expression. The renewal of the partnership is the continuation of a fruitful three-year collaboration which resulted in several unique collaborative creative projects.

Mattar Mohammed Al Tayer Director General, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), said: “We are looking forward to combining our resources and capabilities with Brand Dubai to roll out another series of creative projects that will add a new vitality to Dubai’s urban spaces. In 2018, Brand Dubai and RTA implemented the Dubai Metro Murals Project, which saw international artists paint murals on pillars of the Dubai Metro on Sheikh Zayed Road between the Dubai International Financial Centre and Emirates Towers stations. As part of the Jumeira Project, the two organisations also launched a series of public art installations at bus stops in 2020 to raise the neighbourhood’s profile as a social and creative destination.

In 2019, Brand Dubai and RTA organised the Metro Music Festival, which featured performances by a host of musicians from both traditional and non-traditional genres of music at Dubai Metro stations. In the same year, they jointly launched the first phase of the Parking Metres Project that saw parking machines in prominent areas being turned into beautiful artworks.

Emirates announces A380 flypast over Dubai

DUBAI, Emirates Expo 2020 Dubai special livery aircraft will be performing two low level flypasts over Sheikh Zayed Road and the Expo 2020 Dubai site tomorrow morning, Wednesday 13 October and Thursday 14 October.

Opportunities for media and the public making their morning commute to spot the aircraft will approximately be between the hours of 5am to 8am (local time) across different vantage points on Sheikh Zayed Road and around Dubai Expo 2020 and its surrounding areas. The flypasts being conducted over the next two days will be for a special project to be revealed soon by the airline.

Emirates encourages the public to take photos and videos of the flypast of the special A380 livery, however, people are reminded not to put the flypast at risk by using drones and to comply with all GCAA guidelines pertaining to ‘no fly zones’ for unmanned aircraft/drones.

In September, Emirates introduced the bold Expo 2020 Dubai livery on its A380 aircraft. This eye-catching invitation to the Expo 2020 will be seen across the airline’s A380 network over the coming months.
