في يوم النمر العربي الذي اعتمده مجلس الوزراء في العاشر من فبراير كل عام، وقعت الهيئة الملكية لمحافظة العلا وصندوق النمر العربي مذكرتي تفاهم مع مؤسسة “كاتموسفير”، بهدف تعزيز الجهود الإقليمية لحماية مستقبل النمر العربي المهدد بالانقراض.

من جهته، أشار سمو محافظ الهيئة الملكية لمحافظة العلا رئيس مجلس أمناء صندوق النمر العربي إلى توجيهات صاحب السمو الملكي الأمير محمد بن سلمان بن عبدالعزيز آل سعود، ولي العهد نائب رئيس مجلس الوزراء وزير الدفاع رئيس مجلس إدارة الهيئة الملكية لمحافظة العلا “والتي جاءت لتحمي النمر العربي من الأخطار المحدقة به”، مؤكداً أن دعمه –حفظه الله- مكن الهيئة الملكية لمحافظة العلا وصندوق النمر العربي من تحقيق خطوة إلى الأمام في تعزيز النمر العربي وحمايته من خطر الانقراض.

واعتبر سموه أن التعاون بين الهيئة الملكية لمحافظة العلا و”كاتموسفير” “من شأنه أن يدعم برنامج الحفاظ على النمر العربي الذي تتبناه الهيئة، لاسيما وأنه يأتي في صميم خطط التنمية المستدامة الشاملة لمحافظة العلا، وتعزز المذكرة أيضاً الشراكات القائمة مع الكيانات المعنية بالحفاظ على الكائنات الحية والنباتات الطبيعية، بما في ذلك الاتحاد الدولي لحفظ الطبيعة”.

فيما تضمنت مذكرة التفاهم الموقعة بين صندوق النمر العربي و”كاتموسفير” إنشاء إطار عام للتعاون ولتنفيذ البرامج والأنشطة لزيادة الوعي حول المحافظة على النمر العربي، من خلال الفعاليات والحملات والتوعية ودعم البحث العلمي، ودعم مجالات الحفاظ عليه. وتعد المذكرة باكورة الشراكات التي يقيمها صندوق النمر العربي لدعم أهدافه في انقاذ النمر العربي والمحافظة عليه من الانقراض تحقيقاً للاستدامة البيئية.

وجاء توقيع المذكرتين ضمن حملة توعية انطلقت في مختلف أرجاء المملكة والمنطقة للاحتفاء بمبادرة يوم النمر العربي، والتي اشتملت على عروض ضوئية مذهلة تألقت على واجهات عدد من المعالم البارزة، بما في ذلك مبنى مؤسسة الملك فيصل للأبحاث والدراسات بالرياض، وبرج طريق الملك بجدة، وبرج أدير في الخبر، وصخرة الفيل في العلا.

وكانت مؤسسة “كاتموسفير” قد أطلقت حملة توعوية، لأول مرة في نوفمبر 2021 تحت اسم “كاتووك” التي أقيمت بالشراكة مع الهيئة الملكية لمحافظة العلا، وتمكنت من استقطاب ما يزيد على 27,000 مشارك في 102 مسيرة للمشي الجماعي، قطع المشاركون فيها مجتمعين مسافة زادت على 150,000 كيلومتر. وشارك أهالي وسكان العلا بالمسير في محمية شرعان الطبيعية لدعم جهود حماية النمر العربي، في إشارة واضحة تدل على انتشار الوعي في المحافظة بقيمة النمر العربي، وإدراك أهمية حماية مستقبل هذا الكائن.

ويذكر أن صندوق النمر العربي أسس بهدف المحافظة على النمر العربي وحمايته من الانقراض، ودعم الجهود المحلية والدولية وحث المجتمعات على المساهمة في الحفاظ على النمر العربي كأحد أكثر الحيوانات المهددة بالانقراض.

ويعد النمر العربي أحد الرموز المهمة في التاريخ القديم للمنطقة، كما ينتمي إلى عمق التقاليد الاجتماعية، واكتشف علماء الآثار رسوماً للنمر تظهر بوضوح في الرسوم الصخرية لآلاف السنين، كما كان مصدر إلهام وعنصر مهم في الحكايات الشعبية والتعبيرات السائدة حتى يومنا هذا، وبسبب فقدان موائلها الطبيعية والصيد الجائر، تم تصنيفه ضمن الأنواع المهددة بالانقراض في البرية من قبل الاتحاد الدولي لحفظ الطبيعة.
