Putzmeister

Under the theme ”Invest, Partner, Grow”, the Forum is organised by the UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) in association with the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED). Over 20 key stakeholders are scheduled to speak on various aspects of industrial growth strategies at the event, which has gathered more than 1,300 delegates from investment firms, financial institutions, and companies belonging to the country’s federal, public, and private sectors.

ECI provides trade and project financing collaterals to enable UAE companies to engage in new product innovations in the spirit of the “Make it in the Emirates” initiative, generating more jobs and income across the country.

The repayment guarantees provided by ECI to commercial banks which can be extended up to 15 years empower them to lend to companies to acquire advanced digital production (ADP) technologies that are driving the 4IR.

ECI can also assist UAE industrialists in obtaining funding for new technologies that can increase production efficiency, resulting in sustained industrial competitiveness and expansion of the manufacturing sector. These cutting-edge technologies not only improve their efficiency but also help them reduce their carbon emissions and energy consumption in each phase of their production, which can improve environmental sustainability, an important goal of ECI in line with the UAE’s sustainability agenda.

Commenting on the significance of the forum, Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, and Deputy Chairman of ECI Board of Directors, said, “As the UAE strives to push forward its economic diversification agenda, we are encouraging investments in manufacturing, advanced technologies, and renewable energy. Tasked with more than doubling the size of its industrial base, it’s one of the most important initiatives of the UAE government to diversify its economy and enhance job creation. Etihad Credit Insurance is delighted to partner with MoIAT to strengthen the first campaign of its kind in the UAE to encourage local and international investors to manufacture and export products, facilitating a broad range of project finance and export credit solutions to the UAE companies and giving them the confidence to explore and thrive in new global markets.”

Ministry of Health urges pilgrims to strictly adhere to precautionary health measures

DUBAI, 22nd June, 2022 (WAM) — The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHaP) has urged all pilgrims and the wider community to follow necessary health instructions and precautions needed before and during travel, and to take basic and optional vaccinations including Covid-19 vaccines before leaving to Saudi Arabia for Hajj.

The ministry also urged pilgrims, especially those suffering from chronic diseases, to visit health centres before traveling to Saudi Arabia to ensure they are able to perform Hajj and to take the required doses of Covid-19 vaccines according to the protocols approved by health authorities.

Dr. Hussain Abdul Rahman Al Rand, Assistant Under-Secretary for the Public Health Sector, stressed that MoHAP attaches great importance to protecting the health and safety of pilgrims, especially those with chronic diseases, the elderly and pregnant women, adding that the ministry provides free tests such as pressure and diabetes and constantly launches awareness programmes and campaigns targeting pilgrims, in line with its strategy to develop the country’s health system and protect the community from all risks and communicable diseases.

He noted that the UAE’s competent authorities concerned with organising pilgrimage campaigns are in constant coordination to maintain the health and safety of all pilgrims and the wider society and to prevent all potential health risks, including the spread of infectious and chronic diseases.

Dr. Al Rand highlighted the importance of taking vaccinations, given that it’s considered the most successful and effective preventive measures against infectious diseases, urging all pilgrims to take basic and optional vaccinations before heading to Saudi Arabia, such as vaccines against meningitis, seasonal influenza and pneumococcal infections. He also emphasised that the ministry provides vaccinations in all its health facilities.

MoHaP also called on all pilgrims to adhere to all precautionary measures to avoid any health problems during Hajj, including the exposure to heat exhaustion and physical stress to minimise the chances of contracting some diseases and health problems. They were also urged to follow healthy diet.

UN Lambasts Iran’s Increasing Use of Executions

GENEVA — U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has condemned Iran’s increasing use of executions and the death penalty — including among children – in violation of international law. The secretary-general has submitted a report on the human rights situation in Iran to the U.N. human rights council.

The secretary-general has deplored Tehran’s increasing use of executions and the death penalty, saying they are based on charges that do not amount to the “most serious crimes” and are incompatible with fair trial standards.

U.N. Deputy High Commissioner for Human Rights, Nada Al-Nashif, who presented the report, said at least 570 people were executed in the past two years, many on drug-related charges. Those executed, she said, included at least 14 women and more than 100 people belonging to minority groups.

Al-Nashif decried the execution of at least two child offenders between August 2021 and March 2022, in violation of international law. She said more than 85 child offenders remain on death row.

“Patterns of arbitrary deprivation of life due to excessive force used by the authorities against border couriers, peaceful protestors, and those in detention, continued with impunity,” Al-Nashif said. “The scale of deaths in detention, both as a result of violence and ill-treatment by officials and due to the lack of timely access to medical care is of serious concern.”

The report accuses the Iranian government of keeping a tight grip on its population through increasingly repressive measures. It says the government maintains total control through restrictive legislation, the use of violence, and widespread violations of peoples’ human rights.

Al-Nashif cited a series of legislative measures with detrimental consequences for peoples’ reproductive rights and uncensored access to the Internet. However, the laws she said fail to criminalize violence against women and they undermine minority rights, particularly the Baha’i religious minority.

“Civic and democratic space continue to be restricted with human rights defenders and civil society actors operating within a coercive environment where violations are committed with impunity,” Al-Nashif said. “In April and May of 2022, at least 55 individuals, teachers, lawyers, labor rights defenders, artists, and academics were arrested during protests.”

Iran’s deputy permanent representative in Geneva, Mehdi Ali Abadi denounced the report as an appalling and disgraceful political tool used by the United States and Canada against his country. He said the report was biased and based on false allegations. He said Iran was fully committed to the protection and promotion of human rights and respected its international obligations.
