MoHAP holds workshop on occupational safety and health

DUBAI, The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has recently organised a workshop on occupational safety and health to review the best international practices in this field and develop innovative solutions to promote the wellbeing of employees at work.

The workshop featured a number of presentations discussing the most common methods for fostering a healthy workplace and reducing occupational injuries. This is in addition to interactive discussions on how to promote a healthy and safe work culture.

The event comes as part of the ministry’s commitment to supporting the National Standard for Occupational Safety and Health Management System (OSHMS).

Dr Hussain Abdul Rahman Al Rand, Assistant Undersecretary for the Public Health Sector, MoHAP, stressed that the ministry is making every effort to enhance occupational health and safety at work, and provide employees with a safe, healthy and sustainable work environment, to increase their productivity and improve their efficiency.

“The ministry pays utmost attention to the wellbeing of its employees and is, therefore, sowing the seeds of happiness within the work environment. Hence, the workshop was held. We are also looking forward to supporting the UAE National Wellbeing Strategy, which aims to upgrade the lifestyle of the community by encouraging the adoption of a healthy living, and promoting mental health and positive thinking,” Al Rand added.

“From promoting positive health behaviors to motivating employees to adopt healthy lifestyles at work, the workshop presented several practical solutions and advice to prevent occupational injuries, achieve the highest levels of health and safety at work. This will eventually result in maintaining their health and fitness and increasing their productivity,” Dr. Hayat Ahmed, family health and occupational health consultant, MoHAP, said.
