Dubai’s real estate market reocrds over AED7.3 bn in weeklong transactions

DUBAI, A total of 2,338 real estate transactions worth AED7.3 billion were conducted during the week ending 14th October, 2022, according to figures released by the Dubai Land Department (DLD).

A total of 106 plots were sold for AED1.76 billion, and 1,791 apartments and villas were purchased for AED3.81 billion.

The top three transactions were two lands sold for AED 600 million and AED 206.52 million in Palm Jumeirah, followed by another land sold for AED 44 million in Al Satwa.

Hadaeq Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid recorded the most transactions for this week by 22 sales transactions worth AED 475.41 million, followed by Jabal Ali First with 9 transactions worth AED 26 million and Al Hebiah Fifth with 9 transactions worth AED 20.3 million.

The sum of the amount of mortgaged properties for the week was AED 1.49 billion, with the highest being a land in Island 2, mortgaged for AED 271 million.

77 properties were granted between first-degree relatives worth AED 249 million, the DLD stated.

Statistics Centre – Abu Dhabi signs data collaboration agreement with Majid Al Futtaim

DUBAI, The Statistics Centre – Abu Dhabi (SCAD) has signed an agreement with Majid Al Futtaim to enhance business-to-government data collaboration, with the aim of bringing together data from various sources to unlock combined insights to create new products, services, experiences, and outcomes, with the vision of advancing the social and economic aspirations of Abu Dhabi.

The agreement was signed by Dr. Haifa Ali Alhamdani, Acting Executive Director of Strategy and Planning Sector from SCAD, and Joe Abi Akl, Chief Corporate Development Officer of Majid Al Futtaim, on the sidelines of GITEX Global 2022 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

The collaboration between the two entities will pave the way for comprehensive data sharing for the public good. It will also help SCAD study consumer consumption behaviours and spending patterns in Abu Dhabi. The shared data will also be a vital input of the Consumer Price Index (CPI), produced by SCAD, to provide monthly estimates on the rate of change in the consumer price basket.

Commenting on the agreement, Ahmed Mahmoud Fikri, Director-General of SCAD, said, “SCAD is building strategic partnerships and exploring opportunities of constructive cooperation with leading private sector institutions to establish an advanced data network and provide insights and analysis that support the decision-making in Abu Dhabi”.

“SCAD’s agreement with Majid Al Futtaim is a step towards the effective involvement of private sector partners in the statistical ecosystem through new and modern sources of data that will contribute to achieving the sustainable economic development of Abu Dhabi,” he added.

Joe Abi Akl stated, “Majid Al Futtaim is committed to leveraging its creative data use and its solutions in advanced analytics to enable economic growth, enhance decision-making, and deliver pioneering experiences that are aimed at improving the lives and well-being of its communities. Statistics Centre – Abu Dhabi, Mastercard join to identify consumer spending trends

DUBAI, The Statistics Centre – Abu Dhabi (SCAD) has signed an agreement with Mastercard to use Master Card SpendingPulse insights to better understand spending patterns across digital and in-person transactions from in-store and online retail sales across all forms of payment.

The agreement was signed by Dr. Haifa Ali Alhamdani, Acting Executive Director of Strategy and Planning Sector from SCAD side, and J.K. Khalil, Cluster General Manager, MENA East, Mastercard, on the sidelines of GITEX Global 2022 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

The partnership will advance business-to-government data sharing, with Mastercard SpendingPulse providing insights on consumer spending and retail trends and behaviours to support the social and economic aspirations in Abu Dhabi.

Ahmed Mahmoud Fikri, Director-General of SCAD, said, “SCAD’s partnership with main players in the private sector is key to producing high-quality statistics and effectively supporting the leadership and decision-makers with actionable insights. Data held by a private sector entity is equally useful for the public and private sector when it is leveraged in partnership with a statistics organisation for the public good.”

“It’s insights like these that will be key to informing the development of policies and planning in Abu Dhabi’s government and private sectors,” he added.

flydubai enters new wet lease agreement with Smartwings

DUBAI, flydubai, the Dubai-based airline, announced today its agreement with Smartwings, the Czech Republic-based airline, to wet lease four Next-Generation Boeing 737-800 aircraft between 17 November 2022 and 16 January 2023.

The Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance and Insurance (ACMI) agreement with Smartwings will see four-leased aircraft support flydubai’s fleet of 68 Boeing 737 aircraft, enabling the carrier to add more capacity for its passengers and cater to demand for travel during the busy winter season.

Commenting on the agreement, Ghaith Al Ghaith, Chief Executive Officer at flydubai, said, “We are pleased to confirm this new wet lease agreement with Smartwings, an IOSA (IATA Operational Safety Audit) certified company, well-experienced in ACMI agreements. Having previously worked with Smartwings, we are confident that the leasing of four additional aircraft will provide our passengers with more convenient and reliable options for travel during the winter season.”

flydubai currently operates a single-fleet type of Boeing 737 aircraft that includes 32 Next-Generation Boeing 737-800, 33 Boeing 737 MAX 8 and three Boeing 737 MAX 9.

Mohammed bin Rashid issues Decree appointing new director of Judicial Inspection Department

DUBAI, In his capacity as the Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister, issued Decree No. (39) of 2022 appointing Judge Mohammed Mubarak Obaid Al Sabousi as the Director of the Judicial Inspection Department.

The Decree is effective from its date of issuance and will be published in the Official Gazette.

Abu Dhabi Digital Authority, Cisco sign framework agreement at GITEX Global 2022

DUBAI, The Department of Government Support, represented by the Abu Dhabi Digital Authority (ADDA), has signed a framework agreement with Cisco at GITEX Global 2022.

The agreement intends to provide digital transformation value-added services to ADDA and Abu Dhabi government entities through Cisco’s Country Digital Transformation (CDA) programme.

The CDA programme is aligned with the national agenda of the UAE to transform the country’s economic model towards sustainable growth by transitioning towards a digital economy. It aims to support digitisation efforts across various key industry sectors, fostering digital skills, and developing the innovation ecosystem in the country to achieve the UAE Centennial 2071 vision of digital transformation.

Within the framework agreement, Cisco is supporting the government’s focus on cybersecurity – being one of the critical national sectors in the UAE and is collaborating with ADDA to create value-added initiatives to drive the Authority’s security strategy agenda for the Abu Dhabi government.

Dr. Mohamed Abdel Hameed Al Askar, Director-General of ADDA, said, “Through the ADDA-Cisco framework agreement, we continue to identify strategic pathways to strengthen, streamline and accelerate the digital transformation of Abu Dhabi. We remain focused on exploring more constructive collaborations that will aid the strategic growth of Abu Dhabi’s digital agenda.”
