Abu Dhabi, Statistics Centre – Abu Dhabi (SCAD) has signed a partnership agreement with the US-based Institute for Certification of Computing Professionals (ICCP), under which the Statistical Training Institute of SCAD would provide certification programs for professionals in Abu Dhabi government entities.
The agreement was signed by Ahmed Mahmoud Fikri, Director General of SCAD, and Dr Bradley Jensen, President of ICCP, on the sidelines of GITEX Global 2022, held at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
The education and certification programs designed by the ICCP will be implemented by the STI to build data and statistical capabilities for government IT professionals. The training programs are part of SCAD’s strategy to develop an integrated statistical ecosystem in Abu Dhabi that can support decision-makers with insightful and real-time statistics.
As per the agreement, the STI becomes the authorised certification and examination partner in Abu Dhabi and a board member of ICCP. The STI will also participate in the ICCP’s board meetings to ensure certification standards are met and updated as needed.
Ahmed Mahmoud Fikri said: “The partnership with ICCP is aligned with SCAD’s efforts to strengthen collaborations with international academic organisations to support the statistical capabilities in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. It is part of our mission to enable governmental entities to produce official statistics and statistical data”.
For her part, STI Director Rabaa Mohammed Bani Yas said: “We look forward to having a long partnership with ICCP to develop and provide education and training programs that will help the employees at SCAD and the Abu Dhabi government entities ready to produce reliable statistical reports depending on standardised methodologies and rules for data collect, processing and dissemination.”.
Dr Bradley Jensen stated: “ICCP is very excited about the partnership with the Statistical Training Institute (STI) of Statistics Centre – Abu Dhabi. The ICCP Board of Directors has voted to accept STI as an ICCP Board member, and we are looking forward to this exceptional opportunity to develop a long-term relationship through SCAD and STI within the UAE, GCC & Middle East region”
The ICCP certification is a multi-tiered credential that validates the candidate’s knowledge of data governance, focusing on availability, usability, consistency, data integrity, and data security.
