Hazza bin Zayed receives UAE showjumping team

ABU DHABI, 8th March, 2023 (WAM) — H.H. Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council, received the UAE showjumping team, in the presence of Sheikha Fatima bint Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of the Fatima bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy and President of the Abu Dhabi Ladies Club.

During the meeting, Sheikh Hazza congratulated the team for qualifying for the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics, after winning the second place in the qualifying rounds held in Doha, Qatar. He also wished them luck for the Olympics.

He then stressed that the achievement results from the hard collective work of the country’s equestrian federation, clubs, coaches and administrative personnel, urging them to continue their efforts.

He noted that the UAE’s leadership, headed by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and the Supreme Council Members, Their Highnesses Rulers of the Emirates, support equestrian sports, among other sports.

Sheikh Hazza distributed medals and a cup to the team’s members and coaching staff.

The team then offered a souvenir shield to Sheikh Hazza, in recognition of his contributions to and support for the sport.

ADMAF honours winners of 2022 Design and Creativity Awards

ABU DHABI, 8th March, 2023 (WAM) — The Abu Dhabi Music and Arts Foundation (ADMAF) commemorated the winners of its 2022 awards in the fields of arts, design and sustainability at an awards ceremony that took place at Emirates Palace.

The list of Emirati winners included artist and Zayed University graduate Ameena Aljarman, winner of the Gulf Capital ADMAF Visual Arts Award for her digital video entry, “My Grandmother Ameena’s Wishes”; playwright Hamdan bin Shfayan Alameri, winner of Gulf Capital ADMAF Creativity Award for his play, “Room 2071”; American University of Sharjah architecture graduate Maitha Al Hammadi, winner of TotalEnergies Sustainability Design Award for her project, “Agro-Industrial Tourism”; and jewellery designers and Dubai institute of Design and Innovation students Asma Almarri and Media Alfalasi, winners of the ADMAF Design Fund Award 2022 supported by L’Ecole Van Cleef and Arpels for their ear cuff piece, “Osha”.

The awards were presented by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence.

Mohammed bin Rashid meets with President of Poland

DUBAI, 8th March, 2023 (WAM) — His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, today met with Andrzej Duda, President of the Republic of Poland, at Zabeel Palace in Dubai. His Highness received the Polish President and his accompanying delegation in the presence of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai.

t the meeting, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed expressed his hope that the visit would serve to strengthen bilateral ties between the two nations. The two sides discussed strategies to develop their relations in various domains, including food security, renewable energy, technology, space, agriculture, transportation, and tourism, among others.

Both parties reviewed various aspects of cooperation and emphasised their commitment to promote economic and investment cooperation between the UAE and Poland. They discussed ways to increase trade volumes and tourism, and to encourage the private sectors of both nations to explore new avenues of collaboration.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid and President Duda also shared their perspectives on several regional and international issues of mutual interest during the meeting.

The meeting was attended by H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group; Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs; and Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemy, Minister of State for International Cooperation.

Emirati women are an inspiring example of empowerment in region, world: Noura Al Kaabi

ABU DHABI, 8th March, 2023 (WAM) On International Women’s Day, which is celebrated every year on March 8th, Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, Minister of State, highlighted the pivotal role that Emirati women play in embodying the vision of the UAE’s Founding Father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in building the nation. She also praised President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, for their commitment to empowering women in all fields and strengthening their role in the UAE’s development.

l Kaabi emphasised the important role played by H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF), in promoting the advancement and leadership of Emirati women. She highlighted the UAE’s investment in women’s contribution to future-focused industries such as artificial intelligence, innovation, and technology, underscoring that women’s energies and capabilities are limitless.

Looking ahead, Al Kaabi stated that as the UAE prepares to host the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) in November 2023, women’s perspectives will be included in all discussions. She noted that women make up two-thirds of the COP28 leadership team, and women represent more than 50 percent of the management team, demonstrating the UAE’s commitment to gender equality and championing a sustainable approach.

Over the next 50 years, she predicted that women will continue to play a critical role in solidifying the UAE’s position as a nation where security, social support, and economic opportunity flourish.

MoFAIC receives credentials of new Apostolic Nuncio to UAE

ABU DHABI, 8th March, 2023 (WAM) — Khalid Abdulla Humaid Belhoul, Under-Secretary of the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC), received a copy of the credentials of Archbishop Christophe-Zakhia El-Kassis, the Apostolic Nuncio to the UAE.

Khalid Abdulla Belhoul wished the new Ambassador success in the performance of his duties and in enhancing bilateral relations and cooperation between the UAE and his country.

The newly appointed Ambassador expressed his pleasure at representing his country in the United Arab Emirates, which enjoys a prestigious regional and international position under the visionary policy of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Sultan bin Ahmed witnesses graduation of EFLI’s 2nd batch

SHARJAH, 8th March, 2023 (WAM) — H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah (UoS), witnessed, on Wednesday, the graduation ceremony of the second batch of students participating in the Emirati Future Leaders Initiative (EFLI), at the UoS’s Student Forum.

Dr. Maher Omar, Director of the Institute of Leadership in Higher Education, delivered a speech during the graduation ceremony, in which he dealt with the goals of the programme that come within the framework of the UoS’s strategy towards graduating future Emirati leaders.

The programme included a package of activities and specialised courses for a period of 6 months to develop skills, and prepare participants for leadership roles in various fields.

Dr. Maher Omar pointed out that the programme includes multiple activities prepared according to systematic plans that seek to enhance and encourage students participating in critical thinking and social analysis. In addition to touching on various topics such as communication, strategic planning, community development, leadership skills, time management, professional development planning, along with holding practical sessions, panel discussions, and a training camp for leadership skills.

t the end of the ceremony, Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi honoured the graduates, in addition to inspecting the exhibition of the students, and taking a memorial photo.
