Qatar Energy Announces Fuel Prices for May

Qatar Energy announced Sunday the prices of diesel and gasoline across the State of Qatar in May, as prices witnessed stability for diesel and gasoline super (95), and for gasoline premium (91).

Qatar Energy set the price per liter of diesel at QR 2.05, gasoline super (95) at QR 2.10, and gasoline premium (91) at QR 1.95. (QNA)

Minister of Interior Offers Condolences to Omani Counterpart

HE Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani offered condolences to HE the Minister of Interior of the sisterly Sultanate of Oman Hamood bin Faisal Al Busaidi on the death of his mother, during the short visit that His Excellency made to the Omani capital, Muscat, this morning.

His Excellency was also accompanied on the visit by HE the former Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani, offering condolences to the Omani Minister of Interior and the family of the deceased. (QNA)

Mercury Passes Between Earth And Sun Next Tuesday

The smallest planet in the solar system “Mercury” will pass between the Sun in an astronomical phenomenon known as the inferior conjunction of Mercury, Qatar Calendar House (QCH) announced on Sunday.

The phenomenon of the inferior conjunction of Mercury will take place Tuesday morning May 2, 2023, at 2:22 am Doha local time.

This phenomenon is considered one of the significant phenomena, because it is an indicative of the transition of the planet Mercury from its appearance during evening time after sunset above the western horizon to its appearance during dawn before sunrise above the eastern horizon, said the astronomer expert at Qatar Calendar House, Dr. Bashir Marzouk.

He added that the last time such a phenomenon happened was on Saturday Jan. 7, 2023, and will happen again on Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2023.

In addition, all inhabitants of the Earth planet will not be able to visually observe Mercury during the inferior conjunction, because Mercury will rise and set at the same time as Tuesday’s sunrise and sunset approximately. (QNA)

One Person Killed, Two Others Injured in Armed Attack East of Baghdad

One person was killed and two others injured in an armed attack carried out by unknown elements east of Baghdad, an Iraqi security source reported on Sunday.

The source said that the unknown elements who were driving a civilian vehicle launched an attack on Al-Shamiya District in Baghdad killing one person and injuring two others.

Meanwhile, the security forces managed to capture an ISIS militant in Baghdad, and are hunting others. The security forces are launching operations against sites purported to be sheltering militants, especially in the northern and western provinces. (QNA)

New batch of evacuees from Sudan arrives in Jeddah

A new batch of evacuees including 45 Saudi nationals from war-torn Sudan has arrived in Jeddah, the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Sunday.

Among the evacuees there were 36 Pakistanis who along with the Saudis arrived in Jeddah by air. Moreover, 52 evacuees from Oman, the US and Nepal, arrived by sea.

Number of people who have been evacuated from Sudan to Saudi Arabia has reached 5,197, including 184 Saudis and 5,013 of various nationalities.

Sudan is currently witnessing a war between the army and a paramilitary force. Many civilians have fled the country by land, sea and air across the nation’s various borders

CBK: 1,051 Kuwaitis graduated from “Kafaa” training programs

The Central Bank of Kuwait said on Sunday that 1,051 citizens graduated from “Kafaa initiative programs,” launched by the central bank 15 years ago.

The programs aimed at supplying the banking and financial sectors with highly qualified personnel according to top international standards.

The CBK said in a statement that investment IN national cadres tops its priorities for such an approach secures the sectors’ sustainability.

The “Kafaaa” initiative was launched in 2009 in cooperation with Harvard Business School. Since then, it has expanded, encompassing currently eight programs in partnership with foreign and regional entities.

It aimed at qualifying freshly graduated Kuwaitis to become eligible to work in the banking sector, granting scholarships for Master’s degree studies abroad and awards for researchers
