Today, the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs – Minister of Finance, Dr. Rashid Aboud Abu Lahoum, laid the foundation stone for ten water projects in Taiz province, at a total cost of 292 million and 600 thousand riyals.
The projects for which the foundation stone was laid in the presence of the Acting Governor of Taiz, Ahmed Al-Masawi, and the Chairman of the General Authority for Rural Water Projects, Adel Bader, include the drilling of six artesian wells and two manual wells, and the rehabilitation of three projects with solar energy.
More than 111,000 people benefit from the projects implemented with funding from the Central Emergency Development Intervention Unit at the Ministry of Finance and the local authority.
The projects include drilling a well for Al-Kamb Al-Sairah project and the Al-Majasha well in Maqbana district at a cost of 66,290,000 riyals, in addition to drilling the Bani Awn well in Shara’ab Al-Salam district, the Bani Sami’ well in the Shara’ab Al-Runa district, and the drilling of a Thaba well in the Mawiyah district, at a cost of 92,552,000 riyals.
Projects also include the rehabilitation of the Aqios project with solar energy in the Shara’ab Al-Salam district at a cost of 32 million and 575 thousand riyals, the rehabilitation of the eastern and western Himyar project with solar energy in the Shara’ab Al-Rouna district at a cost of 59 million and 993 thousand riyals, and the rehabilitation of the Al-Jaashish project with solar energy, the first phase in the Shara’ab Al-Rouna district, at a cost of eight million and 190 thousand riyals.
The projects include digging two manual wells in Al-Araf area in Maqbana district, at a cost of 30 million riyals, and conducting experimental pumping of the Bani Sha’ab Al-Wadha wells in Shara’ab Al-Salam district, at a cost of 3 million riyals.
During the laying of the foundation stone, Dr. Abu Lahoum confirmed that these projects come in implementation of the directives of the Revolution Leader, Sayyed Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, and the President of the Supreme Political Council, Field Marshal Mahdi al-Mashat, to pay attention to water projects and focus on them to serve the largest segment of citizens.
He pointed out that the main objective of these projects is to provide water for the people of the targeted areas, especially those that suffer from a shortage of water projects, pointing out that these projects will be completed within a period not exceeding two months.
