Parliament speaker stresses importance of training & qualification to raise performance level

Parliament speaker, Yahya Ali Al-Ra’i, stressed the importance of training and qualifying the cadres and employees of the General Secretariat of the House of Representatives, stressing the importance of developing capabilities to raise the level of performance in aspects related to the technical and administrative fields that assist the Council’s activities in the legislative and oversight aspects.

That came during his inspection, today, of the rapid typing and text printing course organized by the General Secretariat, starting from Saturday until the end of May, at the Department of Systems and Information, with the participation of 20 trainees.

Al-Ra’i pointed out the importance of the trainees absorbing the vocabulary of the course and reflecting this practically on the applied side to improve performance level and enhance the development of capacities that keep pace with the needs and requirements of the digital age.

He appreciated the efforts made by the General Secretariat in order to improve the level of performance and develop the skills of the technical and administrative staff of the General Secretariat of the Council.

For their part, the Secretary-General of the Council, Abdullah Yahya Al-Qasimi, and the Assistant Secretary-General, Abdul Rahman Al-Mansour, stressed the importance of achieving the maximum benefit from the course, which comes as an extension of the previous sessions, and within the framework of completing the implementation of a number of qualitative courses with the aim of enhancing technical and administrative capabilities and skills.

Killing & injury of 13 people in car rollover accident due to rain in Raymah

Eight people killed and five others were injured in a car rollover accident due to the flow of torrential rains in Kusmah district, Raymah province.

A local official told the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that a car on its way to the capital, Sana’a, overturned from the top of a mountain slope in the Al-Musabhi area, the center of the Kusmah district, which led to the killing of eight people, including a woman, and the injury of five others, with fractures, some of them seriously.

He attributed the cause of the accident to the flow of torrential rains, which impeded traffic to and from the district.

He also indicated that the injured were taken to a hospital in Al Hodeida province.

Jordan to host regional meeting on violence against refugees

Jordan on Monday and Tuesday is set to host the regional meeting on the implementation of the Arab Strategy for the Prevention of and Response to All Forms of Violence in Asylum Context. The meeting is organized by the Ministry of Social Development, in partnership and cooperation with the Arab League and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). Arab League’s Assistant Secretary General and Head of Social Affairs Sector, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General on Sexual Violence in Conflict, and Minister of State for Women’s Affairs in Libya, in addition to high-level representatives from the concerned authorities of the Arab League member states, UN specialized agencies and stakeholders on women and girls. Prepared by the Arab League’s General Secretariat (Social Affairs Sector – Women’s Department) in cooperation with the UNHCR and was approved by the Arab League’s Council at the ministerial level at its 155th session in 2021, the strategy seeks to provide an Arab guiding framework that supports member states’ efforts to protect refugees from violence, especially women and girls. This framework includes the adoption, review and implementation of legislation and policies in line with national legislation and international covenants. The meeting aims to identify regional priorities in the prevention of and response to all forms of violence in asylum context in the Arab region, within the framework of the action plan attached to the Arab strategy, in consultation between the concerned authorities in member states and other actors working in this field. The meeting will also review national efforts and current national strategies on addressing violence and focus on refugee women and girls from different backgrounds by highlighting effective case management, safe and confidential referral to specialized sectoral services, availability of high quality services and quality assurance of mental health and psychosocial support.

Meeting in Sana’a discusses journalists’ situation in occupied provinces

A meeting held today in Sana’a discussed developments in the occupied southern and eastern provinces, especially Hadramout and Al-Mahra.

The meeting, which included the governors of Hadhramaut Luqman Baras and Al-Mahra Al-Qa’tabi Ali Al-Farji, and the deputy chairman of the board of directors of the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), deputy editor-in-chief, Muhammad Abdul Quddus Al-Shari’i, also discussed the conditions of free journalists and media professionals in the occupied provinces.

The meeting also referred to the violations that journalists are subjected to, including killing, threats, enforced disappearance, and physical and psychological torture, as a result of their rejection of the presence of the Saudi-Emirati occupier and the practices of its militias, and their exposure of the American-British ambitions and the violation of national sovereignty in those provinces.

While Al-Shari’i praised the efforts of all journalists in the occupied provinces and regions and their sacrifices in order to uncover the plans and conspiracies of the occupation, denouncing what they are exposed to because of the nature of their work.
