KSrelief Participates in IsDB’s Annual Meeting in Jeddah

The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), represented by its Assistant Supervisor General for Operations and Programs, Engineer Ahmed bin Ali Al-Bayez, participated in the annual meeting of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) yesterday. The meeting was held under the auspices of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, from May 10 to 13, 2023, in Jeddah Governorate, with the theme “Establishing Partnerships to Prevent Crises”.

The meeting aimed to emphasize the importance of cooperation in addressing the challenges faced by IsDB member states.

The meeting was attended by several officials, including ministers from 57 member states, senior government officials, and heads of international organizations. During the meeting, Eng. Al-Bayez presented the relief and development projects to which KSrelief contributed through IsDB. These include the Lives and Livelihoods Fund, which was signed between KSrelief and IsDB in 2016, with a value of USD 100 million. Several donors participated in the fund, with a total amount exceeding USD 1.3 billion

Oman, South Korea Discuss Military Issues

Secretary-General of the Omani Ministry of Defense Dr. Mohammed bin Nasser Al Zaabi met on Sunday with Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of South Korea Lt. Gen. Kim Seung-kyum, who is currently visiting Muscat.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed a number of issues of common interest.

Omani Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Abdullah bin Khamis Al Raisi also met with South Korea’s Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

The meeting discussed a number of military issues and matters of common concern.

The Russian embassy confirms its readiness to support the course of the elections in Libya

The Russian Embassy in Libya affirmed Moscow’s readiness to support the course of the elections in Libya, as well as efforts aimed at making the expected electoral processes a success.

This came during a meeting with the President of the High Electoral Commission, Imad Al-Sayeh, at the Commission’s headquarters in Tripoli, today, Sunday, with a delegation from the Russian Embassy in Libya.

The delegation included: Minister Plenipotentiary of the Embassy Jamshid Poltaev, Counselor of the Embassy Aldar Yafarov, Director of Public Relations at the Embassy Akram Ezzara,

The Electoral Commission said in a statement that the visit comes within the framework of reviewing the Commission’s readiness to implement the elections planned to be held during the current year.

He added: “The Russian delegation was briefed on the capabilities available to the commission and the practical and technical preparations that were taken to implement an electoral process that is subject to international standards and principles recognized in the implementation of the poll.”

The Commission Council briefed the Russian delegation on the terms of reference of the Commission as a neutral, technical executive department that has no political role, and its mission is limited to implementing electoral legislation and laws that are referred to it by the House of Representatives, according to the statement.

The commission indicated that the meeting dealt with the Russian experience with regard to the implementation of electoral processes and the mechanisms and institutions supervising their implementation.

Al-Dabaiba and Batili are discussing the latest developments to hold the elections.

The head of the government of national unity, “Abdul Hamid al-Dabaiba,” discussed with the head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, “Abdullah Batili,” the latest developments regarding holding national elections in Libya, and finding fair electoral laws for all.

According to the media center of the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, the meeting, which was held at the Cabinet Office in the capital, Tripoli, discussed the file of the return of the displaced and the provision of an appropriate environment to achieve this, in addition to the latest developments in the situation in Sudan and the impact of the conflict on Libya and the efforts made to achieve calm.

The Italian ambassador to Libya is discussing with the municipality of Benghazi the reconstruction and stability efforts in the city.

The Italian ambassador to Libya, “Giuseppe Buccino Grimaldi,” accompanied by the Consul General of his country, “Francesco Di Luigi,” visited the municipality of Benghazi today, Sunday, during which he met with the head of the municipality’s executive council, “Al-Saqr Omran Bojwari,” and a number of municipal officials.

During the meeting, they discussed the implications of the current political situation on the work of the municipality and the extent of the municipality’s ability to provide services in light of the current situation, the works and projects implemented by the United Nations Development Fund in the city of Benghazi, and the importance of joint coordination with regard to the reconstruction and stability program in the city.

The Italian ambassador praised the Municipality’s continuous cooperation and response with the Italian Consulate in a way that benefits the public interest of both parties.

For his part, Bojwari praised the cooperation of the European Union in general and the State of Italy in particular with regard to supporting and developing the municipality’s human capabilities in a number of fields.

It is noteworthy that the visit of Ambassador Giuseppe Buccino to the municipality of Benghazi comes near the end of his tenure as Italian ambassador to Libya.

His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah received at Bayan Palace on Sunday His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

He also received First Deputy Prime, Interior Minister, and Acting Minister of Defense Sheikh Talal Khaled Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
