KSrelief Sends First Aid Shipment to Sudan via Saudi Sea Bridge

The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) sent today the first shipment of aid via the Saudi relief sea bridge to the Republic of Sudan.

The bridge’s first shipment, comprising 50 tons of food products, is heading to Port Sudan and seeks to help alleviate the impact of the current situation on the Sudanese people.

The aid comes in implementation of the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

The assistance highlights the Kingdom’s role in extending a helping hand to brotherly and friendly countries during crises and demonstrates the deep and strong relations between the two brotherly countries.

18th World Meeting of Bulgarian Media Takes Place in Kazanlak

The 18th World Meeting of Bulgarian Media, organized by the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA), is taking place in Kazanlak between June 1 and June 4. The town is celebrating the 120th anniversary of its Rose Festival, which traditionally gathers thousands of guests from all over the world. The theme of this year’s edition of the World Meeting of Bulgarian Media is “Media and Freedom”.

Journalists from 33 countries (including Bulgaria), among which representatives of 40 Bulgarian media from 16 countries, participate in the World Meeting of Bulgarian Media in Kazanlak. The meeting will be covered by reporters from agencies partnering with BTA from 12 countries. Within the framework of the forum, BTA will sign a contract for cooperation and news exchange with the heads of six foreign news agencies.

The event will host Bulgarian media around the world representatives from Australia (the Bulgarian programme on SBS), Austria (the Bulgarian programme on Radio Orange 94.0), Argentina (My Bulgaria internet radio), the Vatican (Radio Vatican), Great Britain, Canada (Zornitsa TV and newspaper), Cyprus (BG Factor), Romania (MyRo.biz), USA (Eurochicago.com, BG Voice radio and online newspaper, Bulgaria Sega newspaper, BulgariCA online edition, the Razdumka po Nashenski podcast ) Slovakia (Snarodnik magazine, RTVS), Serbia (Glass Press, New Brotherhood, FAR multimedia portal), Ukraine (Roden Krai magazine), Hungary (Hemus magazine, Bulgarski Vesti magazine), Croatia (Rodna Rech [Native Speech] bilingual journal) Czechia (Bulgari magazine, Roden Glas [Native Voice] magazine), etc. A total of 13 Bulgarian media groups, 3 associations ( the Union of Bulgarian Journalists, the Union of Bulgarian National Electronic Media, and the Union of Publishers in Bulgaria) as well as an educational and scientific organization (Sofia University Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communications) will take part in the forum.

The official guests of the event will include Bulgarian President Rumen Radev, Vice President Iliana Iotova, Foreign Minister Ivan Kondov, Minister of Education and Science Sasho Penov, Mayor of Kazanlak Municipality Galina Stoyanova, esteemed poet Nayden Valchev, author of the classic song “A Bulgarian Rose” to the music of Dimitar Valchev.

The World Meeting of Bulgarian Media will be opened on June 2 by BTA Director General Kiril Valchev, followed by addresses by Vice President Iliana Iotova, Ministers Ivan Kondov and Sasho Penov and Mayor Galina Stoyanova.

On the last day of the meeting, June 4, President Rumen Radev will address all participants.

Within the framework of the World Meeting of Bulgarian Media in Kazanlak, there will be discussions in three panels: “Freedom for journalists”, “Freedom of choice for the audience” and “Holidays and the media”.

During the event, the National Endowment Fund 13 Centuries Bulgaria award for Bulgarian media abroad will be presented, in recognition of the efforts of Bulgarian journalists working abroad to preserve and popularize the Bulgarian culture and spirit. The award is presented every year during the world meetings of the Bulgarian media, organized by BTA and the Association of Bulgarian Media Around the World.

The World Meetings of Bulgarian Media, organized by BTA, is a professional forum whose purpose is communication, building a network and establishing cooperative relationships between Bulgarian journalists from all over the world.

Qatar Reaffirms Commitment to Promoting South-South Cooperation in Support of Social, Economic Recovery

The State of Qatar reaffirmed Thursday its commitment to continuing efforts to enhance the South-South cooperation, especially within the framework of the real opportunities it generates to support the endeavors of the countries of the South to achieve social and economic recovery, and the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

This came in the State of Qatar’s speech delivered by HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Sheikha Alia bint Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani, during the general discussion of the 21st session of the High-level Committee on South-South Cooperation, which was held at the UN headquarters in New York.

Her Excellency praised the appreciated efforts of the UN Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC) and the UN Development Program (UNDP) in supporting initiatives and activities aimed at strengthening cooperation among the countries of the South, stressing that the South-South cooperation has always been an important and vital issue for the State of Qatar. In this regard, Her Excellency highlighted that the State of Qatar chaired the high-level committee concerned with South-South cooperation in 2007, affirming the State’s keenness to be a platform to enhance the horizons of this cooperation and address common challenges, and translate that in many tangible steps.

Her Excellency drew attention to the State of Qatar’s hosting of the second South Summit in 2005, which resulted in the Doha Action Plan, noting that the State of Qatar looks forward to the third South Summit to be hosted by Uganda, as an impetus to stimulate actions that are in the interest of the countries of the South.

Her Excellency expressed the State of Qatar’s pride in hosting the Fifth UN Conference on the Least Developed Countries, which was a pivotal event to support the efforts of many countries of the South and help the least developed countries to build more prosperous and resilient societies and economies.

Moreover, the State of Qatar co-organized the Ministerial Meeting on South-South Cooperation on the sidelines of the conference, which constituted an important station for renewing partnerships for workable solutions to support the implementation of the Doha Program of Action for the LDCs, Her Excellency added.

Her Excellency reaffirmed the State of Qatar’s keenness to continue providing aid, in line with its belief that the various challenges facing the countries of the South make cooperation and solidarity among them extremely important.

In 2021, the State of Qatar contributed more than USD 551 million to development projects and humanitarian aid, and it did not hesitate to support international efforts to mitigate the COVID-19 pandemic, Her Excellency said, highlighting that the State of Qatar provided QR 27,573,385,901 in aid to the countries of the south during the period from 2014-2021, which included governmental and non-governmental assistance for development and humanitarian issues. This assistance supported efforts to implement several sustainable development goals, including eradicating poverty, building sustainable cities and communities, creating decent work, promoting economic growth, education, health, and more.

Within the framework of the innovative initiatives supported by the State of Qatar, Her Excellency highlighted the notes included in the report of the UNDP director on the renewal of the partnership between the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) and the UNDP for the period 2022-2025, and the State of Qatar’s commitment to provide an additional USD 10 million to support innovative work being carried out by 91 UNDP Accelerator Labs in more than 100 countries in the Global South, bringing the total support for the Lab network to USD30 million.

Qatari Athletics Participates In Asian U20 Athletics Championships 2023 In South Korea

The Qatar Athletics Federation (QAF) announced the list of the Qatari national team athletes participating in the Asian U20 Athletics Championships, which will be held in Incheon, South Korea from June 4-7 2023.

The list included: Ismail Daoud in the 400m and 400m hurdles races, Abdul Rahman Muhammad in 400m hurdles race, Saif Abdel Salam in pole vault competition, Nayef Al Rashidi and Omar Daoud in 110m hurdles race, Amer Muhammad in100m race, Ahmed Jibreen in the discus throw and shot put competitions.
